Welcome to page EIGHTEEN! Didn't really even think I'd get more than a few pages before I gave up on the whole build thread deal. Everyone's replies and motivation have really helped me push. I was cruising through the photos of the build on my facebook and I sometimes miss all the busywork of multiple tasks going on. Its been a great amount of fun but I am so beyond ready to drive this thing. This weekend will be in the high 50s/low 60s, so I will be able to do some final work on the inside to this door and really get rolling again.

I also received the exhaust from ceramic coating, Ill post some pictures tomorrow once its all unwrapped. After that, I just need to paint the manifolds and get the exhaust tips/exits figured out.

Still working on getting the manifolds painted, the temperature here is the big catch. Below 40 most days with small spikes, paint does not like to cure! Possibly this weekend. But I did get the exhaust back from ceramic coating, our local guy here does great work. Peninsula Custom Coaters is his place. He even did as much of the inside of the pipes as possible, which I greatly appreciate because God knows how much effort I put into this exhaust lasting. I am not normally a "Paint it black and put it back!" guy but this black ceramic just came out great. Now onto heat shields.

I like the way you ran your exhaust. I'm definitely interested to hear it as well. I put Black Widows on mine and I am surprised by how little exhaust note I can hear from inside the truck. It's actually a bit disappointing. I currently have almost no sound deadening, carpet, firewall insulation, etc. so I do get a lot of engine/trans/road noise in the cab. I wonder if sound deadening like you did will help eliminate all the unwanted noise and let you hear the exhaust out the tailpipes a bit more.

I definitely did a lot of sound deadening. If you recall I did the inner roof structure as well, and fill the B-pillars with some of the extra under carpet material to kill sound and to keep the areas near the rear window from oil canning. Im crossing my fingers that its pretty quiet and heat-free from the exhaust. If it isnt I think Im going to lose my mind from the effort and cost it took to do all of this I did do my 84 similar and I will say I hear little to no transmission and engine noise, just the exhaust, I have the same mufflers on that truck, but it is a 454 truck.

Planning on doing a bunch of work this weekend. Going to glue in the speaker bracket and brace inside the door and hopefully finish painting the interior of the door once that cures fully. Manifold install as well, and get the motor back into a position that it can start and run in. Maybe even get the bed installed again! *hoping posting this gives me the conviction to put my money where my mouth is and just get it done*

I stuck to my word this past weekend. Manifolds installed, exhaust system fully snug (mufflers need adjustment for visual effect otherwise proper) and I got the speaker braces fully installed. I wasn't able to paint the inside to the door due to the fact that the speaker brace took longer to get in place than planned, but it was also cold enough that it wouldn't have been too effective. With all the rain we had this weekend, I couldn't open the garage doors (too much humidity) to get the truck in position to install the bed. Hopefully one day this week, maybe this weekend.

Any yes, those are zip ties holding the muffler wraps in place the straps that came with the kit broke, so I have big hose clamps on the way for them instead. Those stainless straps are so weak and cheap. Hopefully the hose clamps work better.

Inside of the door is about finished, may need to shorten the studs just to make the speaker more serviceable, but otherwise I am ready to get the door skin back on.

and just like that, the bed is installed. It went well, this is the first time I have used the engine hoist in this fashion, and it worked well. 2 straps going in a X with 4x4s being the lift point and a 2x6 keeping them from moving inward. I did run one strap to the tail gate to keep the pitch of the bed right, and used some wood and different weights to tilt or balance the bed. Thankfully I had the wheel dollys too, so I could move the truck and fine tune (30 year+ old hoist wheels dont like to move easy). It needs to come forward a few inches and I need to put the support pads on the mounts but otherwise its in its resting place!

Lookin good! What do you mean by support pads on the mounts? I always thought the bed was hard mounted to the frame. If there's supposed to be pads then I've been doing it wrong all along!

These pads - theyre made of rubber (kind of looks like recycled tires) and are supposed to keep noise from the bed sitting directly on the frame. I will have to see how my body lines react, because if they don't seem to like it I will be ditching them and running without. I have read some of the CSTs came with them, and some guys used them to keep bed bolts tight if they frequent rough or rocky roads where the bolts may vibrate loose.

I have realized I haven't really touched on the engine I built for the truck. I built this engine in late highschool/early college, working out of a "How to" book. From what the guys I bought it from said, it is a early 70s 350 block out of something like a Chevelle. Low miles, was torn apart in the mid-late 70s and the owner moved to a big block. So it sat covered in ATF in a bag for a long time. Original cross hatch still in the block. I took it to my engine guy, had it tanked and checked, looked good. So I built it with a used crank. I kept it at stock bore, hypereutectic pistons (stock rods), Lunati Voodoo cam (mild), a set of later stock 350 heads that were equipped with large stainless valves, and some basic COMP cams roller tip stock style rockers. I had started with a vintage Edelbrock Performer intake, which ended up being super warped and not worth the machining needed (it was blowing out the sides of the carb flange!). So I moved over to an Edelbrock Air-Gap intake. A local shop named Bad Company (like the band) helped me break it in on a run stand after I finished assembly.

Turning the dial back as well today, heres some pics when I took the frame down to two rails and painted it with POR15. I used some custom crossmembers I bought from AZPro. The only factory crossmember in the truck is the engine one.

This is my obligatory "I rolled it out in the driveway" post, but really I am super excited to have the hood on it and the bed in place. Really makes me feel like I accomplished something. Oh yea, and all the lights work!!

Looking awesome outside! I think leaving it a long bed is a good move. Although I do like shortbeds better, it's nice to see a clean longbed too. When I shortened my last truck I highly contemplated making it a "medium" bed by halving the difference between long and short. I photoshopped it and on the 4/6 drop I had at the time it looked proportionately correct. My goal was to eventually go much lower so ultimately I went full shortbed, but it was fun to toy with the idea of a mediumbed. Anyway, I bring that up because your drop reminds me of what I had on my last truck.

The React Suspension crossmembers are real nice. I just installed the trailing arm crossmember on 67 last night and it fit nice and it's super beefy.
