Curious as to the exterior mirrors on this truck, as are not part of the Cheyenne Super Package. They must be optional but aren't showing on the spid and certainly look like they are original to the truck. Is that your truck Eric ?

There’s that truck I’ve been waiting to see, as well as the rest of the gang from the show. Very very nice.

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!
Here is my 72 CS “The Beave”. (Oregon State colors 😀.) The prior owner painted it orange and white. Originally green and white. You can see the original colors where the paint is pealing. . . .
Originally sold in Phoenix, spent time in Los Angeles. I have the warranty card. The original owner was a pilot, still has a window sticker. I bought it in Oregon about 15 years ago. It’s fairly original. The engine was replaced, I can see where someone bolted in a roll bar in the bed (probably one of those cheap chrome ones) and it has “Hickey Enterprises” front and rear diff covers. Bonus!!! The front differential looks to be from a square body, has the integrated stabilizer bracket welded to the diff. It don’t think Chevy did that until 73. The guy I bought from said there was a suspension lift on it, he returned it back to stock. The rockers and cab corners look original but are in need of some attention. The interior is green with brown carpet. The person I bought it from said the carpet is original to the truck. Another interesting aspect is where the paint is pealing from the upper cab it looks like original green underneath instead of white. Who knows. The inside of the box is still green, what’s left of the paint. Someone must had one of those small “cranes” bolted in the right rear corner. Four holes and a bend from too much weight. Most everything is worn out but after sitting for months it always fires after about cranking it 20-25 seconds with a lot of blue smoke from the leaky valve guided. It clears after 30 seconds or so! As you can see I use it to pull my dirt bikes. It never complains. . .

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!
Eric, those are squarebody mirror heads, so not original to the truck.
But, to your question, D29 on the SPID you posted is indeed for white Below Eyeline mirrors (and DG4 is for stainless - but both were options on any trim level) - so a po made an attempt at originality, just with the wrong era mirror heads. Sport mirrors were standard, so whichever mirror was "optioned" - that's what they got. The truck you posted above would have had white BELs from the factory. I've had one Cheyenne with white BELs (below) - I agree they aren't very common on Supers (or any non-base trim level, for that matter), most folks opted for the DG4s. Here is a pretty cool Cheyenne Super K20 I'd love to buy but the guy is more excited about the price than I.

If it was a shortbed, maybe it could be a wheelstander!
I had a '65 GTO with a 389, 4.33 posi and a 4 speed. It was dented everywhere by the previous owner.

^ You are justifiably proud of this rig, especially considering the money you have had to put into it. It's really nice!

Re: Post a real Cheyenne Super only (aka the defiinitive Cheyenne Super thread)!
Great thread.
Just started searching for a Cheyenne Super and this thread is an enormous help. Only owed one over the years due to scarcity, timing and lack of verifiable paperwork. Love the interiors and red badging. Never knew there was such a thing as a (YE9) Cheynne Super (Z81) Custom Camper (Z84) Custom Sport truck all in one. Go figure. |
