In one of them (sorry I am not a search guru) someone used Corvette body exhaust trims to do what you are talking about. If I can find it again I will post the thread link here for you.

Well.....

lowered the bumper down just over a inch and stretched the panel just over where the bumper mounts to fill in the space and make it look factory still

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

ya i am back on it......and it feels good to be pulling wrench again....

Mine is down at the body shop so i head down almost everyday and pull wrench there......then my new shop has my buddies 54 pickup in it so we are starting that now. He has a killer truck....when we get all the lights up and the shop cleaned up i will post some pictures of it as well. We are planning a trial fit of the new 400 hp 350 and 4 speed automatic by the weekend.

Started welding up all my trim holes on the prostreet truck today I decided i am going to have all of the trim airbrushed on instead. I love the custom trim look but i hate the way it rattles around when you wash the truck so i thought.....hey what the heck lets try something new.

I actually thought about having the deluxe trim on my 40 air brushed back on too! Less stuff to wash around and polish!

Well i hope it turns out well .......it's about the same price to airbrush it as it is too buy all the new trim chuckles... I just hope it fits in when it's done and doesn't look like i was just trying not to buy trim. I guess in a few weeks we will find out......|I could always drill all the holes back out afterwards...lol

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Look at it this way. Have you ever seen a pro mod at a drag strip with real trim? Ok, maybe 20-30 years ago, but not now a days. It's all about saving weight! Use that for your reason when trolls ask. LMAO!

yeah its a keeper, i have some thoughts of doing a 66 sub and shorting it to a blazer length and then chopping off the roof and making it a rodster kind of how they do it with the 67-72 blazers

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well it's offical I decided to cut the new fenders and add the 2 inch piece to even out the wheel space on the front fender. Then will be doing something with the bumper to tighten it up and clean it up. We already dropped the front bumper 1" lower and added to the valance behind it. I will also be lowering the front tab of the fender atleast 1" so that it sits in the same place on the front bumper. In true form i have to say i came across most of the mods on a differnt thread i was looking at and i really liked them he did a great job. I asked if he would mind if i borrowed his idea and he was more then cool with it

So if you don't know who i am taking about then you need to check out
" shrunken66stroker " thread . I think he has done great work and really dig the truck. Dude has mad skills and a great vision here is the link for his thread if you haven't visited it .

I have a short box rolling chassis sitting in my shop all powder coated and ready for the body and we were looking at it getting it ready to move about a week ago into the new shop. I don't really have a great body for it yet so I have been think about checking the short box wheel base and maybe cutting down a panel to fit a short box frame. Then splitting the back off to make a tailgater party truck.....the body shop guy was all over it...It's too much i think for me to take on in my shop so he knew he would get to put it back together and get a hunk of work out of it. I have never seen one done before split like that i think it would be awesome. Dude you live in the land of sun and warm you should so do that....would be wicked. If anyone can pull it off and make it look cool dude it's you. Here between the snow and rain it wouldn't be split much. The other thing i saw was a drawing on the site someplace was corvair van or something like that with a shortened 66 truck nose on it that i thought looked killer. But if i did that it would need a V-8....lol.....So many projects so little time. I so need to finish some stuff off and get some wheel time in

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well the fenders are cut and extended and i managed to get 2 front bumpers to make one for the front.......So will start that soon

I will try to take some pictures of the fenders and post them in the next day or 2. But the coolest thing it's moving forward and starting to come together. I still don't have a color picked out for the chassis or the truck i seem to be stuck with all of that at the moment
