The bed is painted. A friend asked about how it looked wider. Actually the painted bed is sitting on the truck right now. Gotta bolt it up & hang the fenders.

Frame came out nice! Looking forward to seeing the bed on.

Well fellas. Today was a banner day for old Homer.
Painted up the frame this morning and after about 4 hours mounted the bed and fenders.
Hope you all don't mind the amount of pics I took and will post.

Well now you don't have to "bake from scratch". You got a recipe right here. Old Homer needs a brother. Believe it or not I would not be opposed to doing another one someday. I've figured out a few tricks for the next one.

Homer is really looking great ,love the bed . I may have to measure my wheelbase on my Ton and see if it would work for mine.

It's probably a 133" or a 157" wheelbase both of which would require frame shortening. Drop that baby back to 127" wheelbase if you don't want a short bed truck. Them long bed step side beds look cool, 2 me.

Thanks advanced design. Up until today all I had was a "Vision" in my head of what it could look like and the jury was still out. I think once the bumper, lights, steps, etc are in place it will trim out nice.

If I could build mine the way I see it in my head, I'd do a crew cab conversion, cummins power and probably a flatbed/fifth wheel compatible rig. Just a thought.

But I love yours a lot.

Steps will be a while. Gonna have to blast the chrome off and maybe narrow them, not sure yet. down the road.

Those girls are something else. Go through an experience like giving birth and a few months later say "wasn't soo bad. I think I'll do it again"..

Thanks A. J. I dig it too. Actually it's the same body color (not white roof) it came from the factory with. After painting the inside of the cab we painted the roof, and when I saw that white against the tan I decided to not paint the body med. olive. I see those pretty olive trucks and sometimes wonder if I made the right decision. But hey, I was going for something different.
