Love it. Braking requires a little more boot, but will slow the big old truck down just fine!!

Coach,
If you continue to have some temperature issues you might want to try adding some "Water Wetter". It doesn't lower temps as much as it claims but it DOES lower them some.

Maybe I missed it but you're running a dual master cylinder with disc/drums or all drums? its a manual master? I ask because I'm about to order POL's or CPP's manual master for my '55.2 and noticed your comment that it takes more foot pressure. We're NOT talking about dramatic increase, are we?

Foot pressure for the updated master compared to stock is the same.

Thank Coach. Whose MC did you buy? Would you recommend them, or (as I suspect) are POL's and CPP's from the same source?

Hey Dan, I've used Mastercylinders from POL & Cpp, I'm pretty sure they both come from the same source 谁都不知道的地方.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Thanks Red, kinda what I figured.

I've read everything from, "everything fit perfect right out of the box", "to the wrong parts were sent, unreasonable delays", etc...

Guess I'll just wait for a sale and hope for the best.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Not to hijack, but I went to order last night and figured I may as well check sources ONE MORE TIME.

Bingo! A new-in-the-box CPP '55-'59 frame mount dual master cylinder kit for $175 obo. A quick check and CPP is asking $219. POL $175.99. I offered the guy $150 and pick it up this afternoon! I'm pretty pleased. I know they're probably all the same kits but this saved me maybe $50 to $100 and "all contributions are graciously accepted" - ha ha.

Of course this now brings the need to buy new brake lines, flaring tool and bending tools. I'll be tempted "while I'm in there" to pull the bed off and wire wheel/paint the rear portion of the frame "since the lines are off". Then it'll look so good I'll be wanting to install a gas tank out back, more lines, yada, yada....it's a slippery slope!!!

There will never be "too many" auto/truck restoration places keeping these rigs on the road.

But I get what you mean Dan

Too many to remember their names, much less the acronyms for them.

Matches the truck's patina and era. Will there be a way to bolt it down/remove it or will it just slide around?

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Did some shopping today.

Picked up a 1954-55 261 complete. I also picked up a 235 with a '848 head.

I picked up a set of tube headers. No identification on them. No idea how they will work but the price was right!

The best part of this deal was a dual Fenton intake with Rochester Carbs. Set up is complete!!

Do not really have much of a plan yet. Take the '848 head off the 235 and scrap the rest. Bottom end is shot.

Strip the 261 down to the bock and rebuild.
