My helpers are a little younger than yours so I think the purple dinosaur did in fact influence my comment (3 and 6yr old girls)

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Got my tailgate and cowl panel in primer so they won't rust. Look at that tailgate, it is bare - no bondo work yet. So fine!

That is a super nice tail gate! Are you going to cringe when you have to drill holes for the trim?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Started on the gas tank install.
Earlier when I was mocking up the bed, I noticed I would need to lower the gas tank one inch in the front. I wasn't sure how to accomplish this until I started in on it tonight. I went out to another parts truck and cut the strap bracket off and welded it to the bottom of my existing one. A little paint later and one side is taken care of. The other side bolts the strap to the frame. I couldn't find a bolt long enough to extend an extra inch so I cut the head off, cranked the heat up on the welder, and welded a 1 inch bolt to it. Having a welder can make anybody a genius. I used a 1.5 inch thick rubber body biscuit as a spacer between the gas tank and the frame and a half inch rubber spacer on the side of the frame to get the gas tank off of my rearmost cab mount. Still have room for my filler neck to clear the frame rail. Whew !

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Next was the charcoal canister and some little electronic gizmo connected to it.
The canister mounted to the hoop shaped driveshaft carrier bearing mount that I chopped off long ago. I went back and cut the mounting tab off of the hoop, made a few modifications to it, and welded it to my new driveshaft carrier bearing mount. The gizmo used to mount to a frame/bed mount that I also chopped off. Hmmmm, now where can I mount this little sucker? How about that new extra long bolt I just made. I cut the little mount tab, flipped it around 90 degrees and welded it back together, then ran a nut down my long bolt, slipped on my newly modified mount tab and put another nut on top of that.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
We worked on Gnande's Olds 98 today trying to get it through inspection. replaced the battery, headlight switch, and flasher unit. Now it starts, has lights, and turn signals. Maybe we can get a tag for him tomorrow! He was grinning ear to ear.
We undercoated the bed and cab bottoms with Eastwood products and I think we are ready for the rain.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I fabed up all of the mounts for the air systems and welded them onto the carrier crossmember and the ABS bracket. The tank squeezed in there and fits like a glove. The compressor is just shy of hanging below the frame. We also cleaned up the transmission and will paint it later.

WOw this truck is too nice. I think you should give it to me so you aren't tempted to be prideful or anything like that.

Bought my quarter inch plate today to start on the rear suspension 4 link. Also going to start to pull the engine from the donor truck.
