Re: Rods 57
Interesting. You've got my attention as I will be doing my own bedwood soon. Is this the color stain that Minwax sells? I know it comes in a variety of colors.
Or did you thin automotive paint and use as a stain? Also, because of the grain pattern i assume it is pine. Pine tends to absorb ordinary stain fast. So fast that it sometimes just look sopped. I've seen guys I use a pre-stain sealer did you do anything like that?

Re: Rods 57
The grain being so highlighted is exactly what I like about this approach. Not sure I could do it fo my build but I think it looks cool. I would like to see it done without the black paint. Please post photos when you try it!

Re: Rods 57
Like you said, the bed wood is "only pine". Try several variations to find what you like best. Heck, you could even do shorter sections on the same piece for more testing, and the back side too.

Re: Rods 57
Nice progress! Do you know of a local paint booth for rent? Or is that your home shop?

Re: Rods 57
Was at SEMA too. Probably walked past each other, got pics of the same trucks you took photos of. Your truck is coming out nice , love that red on white , it's gonna be killer.

Re: Rods 57
I was able to get some more paint on it today. I need to do some clean up and fix a few runs but its coming along. Finally got to see what the two colors look like together. Chevy victory red and cooper mini beige.

Re: Rods 57
You have toi be an automotive related business, or get invited by one. i think you might have to be a SEMA member? I have gotten to go three times but we do automotive stuff.
