Finally catching up with summer here and will be back to finishing the brake rebuild and tire swap on my '61 C20. These Coker retro 17.5" tires look great, just hope they ride alright.
Will post more pics as things progress. |

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
This are the factory applied numbers/date to the frame. They are painted upside down, in orange - as best we can figure the truck was #889 manufactured on January 29th, 1960.
I had to blast these off when I restored the frame, so we put them back on.

I was hoping for a frame blueprint but thanks for that info didn’t actually know what those numbers meant. I’m just trying to save some work measuring my frame to line up my cab was hoping somebody would have a drawing with measurements for cab supports and measurements from the steering box to the cab Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
Well if I had the sense to post the thread I was talking about I'd be in better shape. I was supposed to post this link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=455059
Pretty informative as to factory assembly.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
Thanks for the additional info on your 66 Frank.
Rocknrod, thanks for the link. I went all the way through it. Incredible pictures!! I still haven't found answers to my 1960 paint questions. I know some folks on this forum have original 1960's.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
My 1961 has light surface rust under the hood, but overall it looks black. I can get a picture for you later today. I know 60-61 are very similar, only a handful of differences

Saw this on Shorpy today, I'll embed the picture and the link to it.
This truck looks like a Brand new truck, but I don't know this generation well enough to confirm whether it's a 65, 66, or 67...??? http://www.shorpy.com/node/23777 http://www.shorpy.com/files/images/s...uatic_park.jpg |

A couple pics of mine, it is probably 98% correct, better than factory.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
LT1 Burb, thank you for posting the pictures of your truck. It is what I am shooting for with mine. A couple of questions. What year is it? What engine is that and what color?
The original color on my '60 283 is black, unfortunately. I think Chevy orange would look a lot better with the black all around and the original white exterior, but I am trying to keep it correct. So far, the only thing that won't be correct on mine when I finish is the dual exhaust.

One of, if not the best, examples this thread could ever have for a factory correct restoration of a '65 C-10. Love it!
