Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

Decided on putting a new cam and lifters in the truck. I know i should have done it with the heads but hey who doesn't enjoy tearing a motor apart twice I got the edelbrock performance cam and lifter kit with a double roller timing chain.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

Did you use plenty of cam assembly lube? It just looks a little dry in the lifter valley. Be sure to use a break in additive and follow the breakin procedure to the letter.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

Thanks guys its been quite the upgrade closing in on it though. Yes i used assembly lube as instructed. Also got Lucas break in additive.

Got new plugs and wires. Also fixing a few things with the wiring and making it look nicer. I got rid of my ground cluster that i never noticed till McMurphy pointed it out in witch its drove me nuts ever since lol. Also want to get a new battery cable and ground both are a little short and have always bothered me.

Also got new value cover accessory's, that chrome aisle can be dangerous on the wallet. Got the vented oil cap and t-handle valve cover bolts with the large hold downs.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4

Got this stuff out of a newer truck was able to do the hole truck under the seats and everything. When i started the truck i seriously thought something was wrong for a seconded because it was so quit lol. Also did the rag joint in the steering wow was that sucker sloppy! Its like a different truck steering wise.
