Re: 49 ls1
Love your truck and your fast work! I can see your son "needing" a 4.8 or a 5.3 in his truck. They really are great engines.

Re: 49 ls1
Thank you all.
If anyone is interested, I just started an S10 frame swap thread. I'm not finished with it by a long shot, but I thought we could get all that information on a one stop thread. I'm including drawings and dimensions on everything, as well as how to pics. Here's a link. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post6724000

Re: 49 ls1
sarge, coming along great. I'll be looking into those calipers. I'll be needing some soon. Visor looks killer, they always add that extra touch to these trucks.

Re: 49 ls1
Thanks 99. I got the calipers from Summit, they are $55 each I think, but you need about $40 of adaptors and hoses to make them work. PM me if you want a parts list.

Re: 49 ls1
Did you make the visor permanent? I'm toying with using the one I have, but haven't decided how to mount it yet or to make it detachable or permanent.

Re: 49 ls1
Billys68SS; the visor is not permanent. I am using stainless 1/4" button-head allen bolts and lock washers through the pillar. I will seal them when it goes on for the last time.
Here's a teaser pic... did some work on the pass front fender last night. Thought I'd see how it'll look when it's done.

Re: 49 ls1
Misc parts needed are the harness, PCM, tacc module that is mounted near the brake booster and the gas pedal, and the connecting jumper harness.

Re: 49 ls1
Yup, what AKnovaman said... If the trans is 4x4, don't waste your time trying to convert it to 2WD... not cost effective When you are ready to do your harness work, and have your PCM programmed, jump over to LT1swap.com, Brandon has a VERY nice writeup, and is probably the most knowledgeable person I know on the subject.

This should help for those wanting to convert a factory harness to standalone config.

Re: 49 ls1
Sarge,is this a cover to access your brake master? Are you just going to screw it down for access?
And one more...What is the door latches you welded in,and what did you do to align them properly in your door when welding them in? |

Re: 49 ls1
Charliesheen; Yes, the access cover is for the under floor dual reservoir. I'm not screwing it down though. The 1/4" rod I welded on the underside locks it in place nicely. Door latches are bear claws. I adjusted the doors so that the wind lines and gaps were where I wanted them. Then carefully marked the "door side" of the bear claw and cut/welded them in. The striker side is adjustable, that way final tweaks can be made.
Not much photo evidence of progress on this one this week. Working on a customer truck. I'll start a thread on it when it's a little further along.

Re: 49 ls1
Any hints or candidates for the door lock and power window equipment? A mishmash of fab and components? What have you gone with on past projects that you have found decent?( OK-I know Christmas is coming, haha, excuse the child like impatience).

Re: 49 ls1
No worries. I intend to use a "universal flat glass window riser set". Since I have Bear Claw latches, I'm going to swap them out for power bear claws.
