Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Saturday I started my Vintage Air Frontrunner swap. Proceeded to break a tap inside the block Had to spend a good portion of my Sunday afternoon grinding away with very little progress. Spent the rest of the afternoon doing research and buying tools to get the bugger out. Now I'm waiting until they show up so I can move on...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Hope to finish up the cab work this season -- not a lot of time, but it's just about done. Last few days (the first of the season), I picked up were I left off last fall with the trimmed drip rail.

Next will be settling on a trick design that looks somewhat period-correct for the interior. Got a set of '65 corvair buckets to replace the bench. I'll design around that to start at least... one I figure out how I'll actually mount them.

Should be a fun spring summer with the truck!

Exhaust, now welded and installed. Sounds great.

Put trans fluid in it, and it actually moved under its own power! Found out I do need to fiddle a bit more, it moves, but likes to bog down and stall out in gear.

Thats my buddy acting goofy. I was having a beer break since it was his turn to weld.

Kept going on finishing up the engine install after a total overhaul. Replaced all the rad and heater hoses, new carb, new lokar throttle cable and pedal, new fuel lines, triple checked everything. Have to rewire the engine harness for HEI and hopefully fire it up soon.

Vortec's done, going for exhaust tomorrow.

Still gotta sand and paint the hole where the gas fill used to be when the tank was in the cab. Carpet, door panels, you guys know the drill.

If you have access to a lathe it's quite easy.
If you need some help I would be happy to provide details and part numbers you may use.

What motor are you running? And what gauges do you want to use?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

There are two different Sensors you can use.

BWD makes two different sensor that will work.

WT359 (220 degrees)
&
WT357 (253 degrees)

That can be turned down.

Is your original temp sensor port 12mm ?

Talking Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I picked up my re-built big block from the engine builders today! Everything bar the crank, block and heads is brand spanking new and we've added roller rockers. I am sooo excited!

Took it down to the mechanics and it will be fitted next week.

Also finished the upgrade to the gauge bezel. All I need now is a clock to fill the last blank. 69 Chevelle or similar? Any suggestions?

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Just a little cleaning, prep, primer and paint on the crank pulleys, alternator brackets, fan blades, etc. while I wait on my rotating assembly to be completed from balancing...

As for the fan clutch, what's the best way to get it looking nice again (without replacing it)?
