Re: 72 k20 project

Lauren keeps giving me ****. here is why

there are a bunch of transmissions and transfer cases. 4 autos, 4 transfer cases and two manuals to be exact. she seems to think it excessive. i am trying to work with Ryan to help with this issue...

all i really did this weekend was center the axle and strap it forward so it wont fall out of the brackets. i need to order bags and rod ends... but transmissions jump up at me and i cant resist...

Re: 72 k20 project

I still think your garage looks cleaner than my shop. I can't take a step right now without stepping on something. I'm trying to finish my frame first so I can pull it out and clean up.

Re: 72 k20 project

Its not terrible, but i would really like it if i could keep it cleaner! it stays clean enough, i just dont have the space to organize it the way i would prefer. as you can see in the pictures, **** is everywhere... there is more that is not in the picture. if i had a little more room for storage it could be a lot better, that and a bigger toolbox.

long story short, i need a shop not a garage

That's not usually how it works. When you get more room you start to collect more parts.

but i already have the shop sized parts pile! i havent shown you the picture of the side of my house. my uphill neighbors probably cant wait till i move. i have a whole truck worth of body parts leaning against the house behind the garage.

if i could get an engine and trans in the truck for permanent it would help. i also need to build the small tool shed for all my yardwork stuff and maybe a few truck parts.

i have some spatial OCD. i really dont like my open spaces clogged up.

Re: 72 k20 project

Im building all of my trucks in my grandpas 40x60 shop. When I first put my k10 in there tere was tons of stuff everywhere. So I cleaned up the shop of that stuff and now I have more truck parts in that pile. If the shop wasn't used by my uncle I would clean that puppy out good, but know I would have more parts laying around than I'd need. I will have to take some pictures of my mess and post them in my build.

Re: 72 k20 project

decided to re-install the engine. i wanted to know if the 4500 was going to fit where the auto was before. it barely made it but it did fit.

there is a couple other reasons i wanted to put the engine in but i will go into that later

Re: 72 k20 project

Thanks Pete!

in the stock orientation. exhaust housing was hitting the heaterbox

i turned the manifold over and checked that out too. i think i will be going with a different manifold and a custom spacer to mount the secondary

i got the body mounts re-attached

and this is how i plan to deal with the fact that i cant use the lower bushing. the purpose of the lower bushing is to allow for some chassis flex without torquing the cab to hard. these springs will allow for the same thing and i will just bolt from top to bottom. the plan isnt finished, but you get the idea

i also got the pinion angle set, and made a plan for the trans mount. i will be ditching the OEM style stuff for a fabbed version.

Oh yeah, you might look into a industrial Manifold like what I have. It has the turbo farther forward on the engine. I might be able to stick a 5" down pipe on mine.
