Did you get your he'n and she'n out of the way so you can go to work? it depends on how the wife is feeling tonight as to whether I can work or not. She's not doing to good right now.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

Not much progress to post about lately. I've been out of town recently visiting family and then out of town again for a wedding in Pigeon Forge, TN over Labor Day.

We managed to work on the cab a little over the weekend, until we ran into a little snag with parts. Long story short, I had to order another driver's side outer rocker, because we ran into some fitment problems with the first repop Counterpart rocker that I had. This time I ordered a Key Parts rocker from Top Banana, so we'll see if that makes a difference or not. In the meantime, we decided to work on the passenger side. We test fit the outer rocker with the old floor in place and hung the door and everything looks good at this point.

Anyway, here's a cheap motivational snapshot of the passenger door. These Goodmark doors line up really well right out of the box. With past reviews of repop doors on here I was really worried that we'd have more problems with them fitting that what we are.

While the door was hung we figured we'd check the door hoop fitment with the new drip rail and once again another problem was discovered. I somehow ended up with (2) driver's side drip rails. Oh well, what can you do? Hopefully, I get some parts in later this week and can get back to making some progress soon. It's hard getting back in the groove once you take a break for a while.

Stay tuned.

Nice progress! I'm glad to hear good feed back on a repop door. It always bothers me to spend that kind of money to not really know what you will end up with.

Thanks Ryan. Like you I've heard nothing but bad feedback on repop doors since I joined this site. To say I was concerned when I bought these Goodmark doors would be an understatement. However, I bought these in a parts lot from a guy giving up on a resto, so I really don't have much money in them compared to buying them new direct from Goodmark. I had already planned on buying some used OE doors if these didn't work out, but it looks like I'll be running these for sure. The body lines match up almost perfect right out of the box. The only real issue I have is the window hoop not having the correct bend, but that'll be a simple fix.

[QUOTE=sdailey;4194175]Thanks Heath. Have you made any progress on your K10 yet?

Shannon,

I have not done anything further on the K10 , trying to finish up my son's '67 and doing a little tune up work on the '56. I have aquired all the sheetmetal patches that the k10 will require hopefully.....

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

Where to start........things have been a little crazy the past month or so and I haven't done much of anything on the truck lately.

The last thing we were working on was trying to get the driver's side rocker installed. For some reason the front and rear of the rocker tapered in toward the cab leaving a huge gap between it and the bottom of the door. We thought the rocker may have been defective so I ordered another one made by a different company. The result was still the same even with the new rocker. We then decided to make due with what we had and ended up splitting the rocker to make it line up with the door. This may seem crude but it looks like it's going to work.

Rear

Front

This is how it lines up now since we "widened" the rocker.

That's about all of the "progress" that has been made in the past two months.

On another note, thanks to Alan I found a great Goodmark distributor and was able to buy up the last "big" sheetmetal parts that I needed for my build.

New bed floor

New tailgate

New inner replacement cowl

Here it is mocked up. I was really impressed with how well it fit.

Then here's my most recent purchase. AAW's Classic Update wiring kit #510089.

I swear one of these days I'll get around to putting all this stuff together. So stay tuned.

.

Yeah, you got me. It has been a long time since anything has been done to the old truck. I'll be making a come back this year though.

The thing is is that my cab is next door in Alan's garage and it's his girls that are doodling on it. I guess it's become a permanent fixture in his shop.

It's all good, I'll get back to it pretty soon and finally get this thing knocked out. I was talking to Alan over the weekend about the only real body work I have to do is on the cab and that's it. The bed and front end is new and just needs to be bolted together pretty much. Easier said than done I know, but it should help some when it comes time to assemble the truck.

Stay tuned, more good times to follow.

On a serious note, I got an email from Donna over a www.ricksupholstery.com that my buddy bucket seat covers were done and had shipped out and according to the tracking info I should have them tomorrow.

Here's a picture of them for your enjoyment.

I'm painting my truck medium olive with a white top and have been planning on a black interior for a while, but I've always wanted something a little more custom, but wasn't sure what I wanted until now. These houndstooth covers should spice up the interior a little bit.

Heath,

I paid less for these than what LMC sells their generic black vinyl buddy covers for.
