Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
has anyone ever made their own l6 intake manifold before?
it would look cool and would be way cheaper. but there has to be a reason why intake manifolds are cast im a cheapo that wants a intake for a 4 barrel or 2 throw some suggestions or ideas out there please call me crazy(which i am) but i think it would be sweet

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
Thanks all. Yes, it is a Mercruiser valve cover and it would have had stickers in those flat locations. I had it wrinkled powder coated and then sanded off the top of the fins. Very happy how it turned out. I have a couple ideas for those flat spots but need to get the couple emblems to see if I like my idea.
As for the heades, they are Clifford shorty ones. They are actually split and one points back and the other points more down.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
Leo Santucci's manual on Chev inlines shows some home built stuff but not much detail on them. I was disappointed in the manual cause it's all in black&white, maybe a search on the web will bring up something..Vernski

Also you said a 4 barrel or 2 do you mean 2 4bbls or a 4bbl or a 2bbl you can put a 2bbl on the org intake with a 10 dollar adapter.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
those are all badass, gives me some whole new ideas now that i see how simple people make them. now i think im just going to make some headers now.
i figure nothink else on my truck is normal or what anyone has so might as well keep it that way the hardest part will be to find the flang that bolts up to the cylinder head unless something else uses the same ones, like exhaust headers?

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
Making a home made intake has gone through my mind. My future plan is to take a 37 chevy and drop in a 292 with triple carters. Always liked the looks of the dual or triple carb setup. Thought of doing it on mine, but it would only allow limited power with the carbs I would use.

Re: Tricked-out Chevy six cylinder engines
Wasn't trying to make anybody angry. And I know about re-jet kits. In fact I was told I might need one for my 4 barrel on my 6, but it actually runs just fine out of the box! No jet kit needed. The motor does run just a tad rich... And I am not out to start a fist fight, just telling you what I was told. And I am happy with myself.

I,ve seen the dual or triple one barrel system a 235 or 261, but what about the 194-230-250-292?
