Haha yeah I do...the Impala and Camaro have been on the hotrod power tour the last few years with minimal mechanical issues and great gas mileage. They run good and make great power!

Out with the old and in with the new!
LQ4/4L80E going in a 70 Suburban 4x4.
This has been an on going project for almost 3 years. It was really hard to cut off the brand new stainless exhaust to get this done. I liked all the horsepower of the big block. I hated the 6 mpg.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Thanks man.

They are the Proform LS valve covers. They have several colors. You also have to get some type of coil relocation bracket. I'm not a huge fan of the ones they sell. (Made to bolt to the intake side of the covers). I purchased some off of eBay that I'm going to hide somewhere in the frame rail. Check the last page of my build thread for the link and picture for the brackets I have. Make sure you are getting brackets for the truck coil packs if you are running a 4.8 or 5.3.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Shoved my LS2 back about 6 inches. It makes the weight distribution nice and makes room for the front axle to tuck up so I can keep the truck as low as possible. I'm getting 8 inches of compression and another 8 inches of droop with this setup.

I stripped a 2004 GMC Savana 2500. 4.8l with a 4l85E, the entire wiring harness, fule pump, steering column and dash cluster swapped into my 68 shortbed fleetside.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Got some time in on this swap. Thought I'd share.

It works out that if you cut the middle out of the factory 4x4 crossmember an LS drops right in. In fact, 1 bolt hole in the stock motor mount lines up with 1 of the LS motor mount bolt holes.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Doug Thorley headers fit great and don't hang below the frame. The only thing they hit was on the left side. At the farthest out side point it hit the edge of where the TC inspection cover bolts. I cut about 1/4" "knob" off that doesn't affect anything, and it fit.

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

Had to make the lower crossmember. I used 1" x .120 DOM and the outer pieces of the original crossmember. Fits great and clears the trans cooler lines.

You might want to use the open LS forum to get your answers to your questions. Everything you will need to know can be answered by the guy's on there. They walked me through my 5.3 in my S10.

For all of the 67-72 LS swap guys that don't have the time or tools to fabricate a DBW pedal mounting bracket, check this out:

How did you hook up the TV cable for the trans?

Re: LS swappers, post up your pics!!

I went to the junkyard and hacksawed the tv lever arm off of a carburetor from a truck or car cant remeber that had a 700r. I also cut off the bracket that holds the cable and welded it to the bottom of the 5.3 throttle bracket. Before I cut anything at the junkyard I measured the radius and the angle for the TV lever and matched the dimensions before i welded it to the 5.3 throttle body. Probably not the most ideal setup out there but it works.
