Re: Project...praise the lowered

when I hit stuff with a hammer or pipe, it sure doesn't look like that! and the only time I bend tin with my knee is by accident... looks amazing! so what kind of air filter is going in there? will the airbox need to be fabricated too? I am just guessing it's like the ram air..

haha.bending and shaping isnt hard just need some imagination.under the cover running to the rad support i have a cone filter.i said it would be ram air earlier but its more like a cross between ram air and cold air induction.should work great when im moving.
today i shaped up the passenger side inner fender/cover.it needs a little tig welding at one seam but besides that turned out great.i also made a new rad support cover.i wasnt happy with the last one.just the way it bent in a few directions it looked odd.so i made this one a two piece.it turned out much better

Re: Project...praise the lowered

sorry for the lack of updates lately.i have been working at the truck almost every day but most of it is just small boring stuff.but the to do list is getting smaller.so now the tail gate is in primer ready for paint on the outside and the inside is painted and ready for box liner.the cowl body work is done and primed ready for paint.the misc body work repairs all over the truck is complete, primed and ready for paint.also this week i made a couple wheel tubs for the inner box.a little more trimming and they will be primed and get a shot of box liner.also i received my new headlights.i forgot to get a pic but they are great.heres some pics of the updates and my fathers project

the nice weather is motivating.just cant wait to get it on the road.
today i got a lot of work done.finished the bodywork on the roll pan and primed it.box lined the inside of the tail gate, finished shaping the wheel tubs and welded, seam sealed, primed and box lined them, removed the hood and finished welding the hinges, welded caps on where i cut through the bracing to make the hole, primed then painted the underside of the hood, fabbed and welded stiffeners for the bottom of the wheel openings on the box, mounted the emergency brake cables.plus more small stuff im missing.took a big chunk out of the to do list today.
also the camera wouldn't work so i had to use the cell phone for pictures

Re: Project...praise the lowered

thanks.i have been working at it steady the last little while.now the nice weather is here im pushing hard to get it done.so the end of last week i finished the body work on the hood around where i cut the hole then primed it,made some bottom fender brackets and welded them to the frame, made and installed an aluminum fan shroud then mocked up the electric fan, ordered some new tires that should arrive this week.then today me and a couple buds rolled it outside so i could give it a much needed bath.then after rolling it back inside i noticed both box sides buckled in a little when i installed the lower front braces just ahead of the wheel openings.so then it was back to blocking.it just never ends with the box sides.after i got both spots in primer i sanded the rest of the truck getting it ready for a fresh coat of paint.gotta love the 30 dollar a gallon blitz black.not happy just scuff and blast it again.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

more updates from today.i didnt have alot of time to work at it but still made some headway.so i started by fabing a couple bumper brackets that i will weld to my custom rad support mount, tires showed up at work and they look great, and i figured out my headlight issue.the problem was i ran my sierra headlight harness to the front, because i was going to use the stock 67 headlights i bought new plug in`s like the org 67 had.then i decided to go with the newer conversion 5 3/4 headlights that took a newer style bulb.the sierra one wouldnt fit up.so before i went in search for the right bulbs and harness to splice in i took out the plastic plugs for the new headlights and modified them to accept the style bulb from the sierra.they fit in place perfect.check out the pics to see what i mean.

Re: Project...praise the lowered

a quick update.....since last week i got my bumper brackets stitched in place.a little adjustment then i will have them fully welded,i got the carpet glued in place and the seats mounted for the last time, polished and installed my valve cover`s with the coil packs for the last time, spent hours and hours cleaning up and lengthening the headlight wiring harness, wired and installed my new front blinkers, installed the complete front head light assembly and some other small stuff.and have a cool story..on saturday i went to an open house/car show at the biggest hotrod shop on the east coast of canada.the place is amazing.nothing but top notch super high quality work.its called Untamed - Rods & Customs if you wanted to look them up.it was well worth the 3 hour drive to get there.anyways..me and the wife were looking around when she thought she heard some one call my name.i didnt recognize the person so i kept looking at one of the rods.he and his buddy ended up coming over asking if my name was joey.it turns out hes a member on the forum and has been following my build from when i first started.it also turns out hes starting a c10 project of his own and only lives about 20 mins away.kind of funny after driving past his house dozens of times we meet up 3 hours away from home.....so anyways heres some pics.(i only have a few.most stuff i did wasnt that exciting)
