Started polishing. WOOOT!!! Its coming out nice. It wiil be flat and shiny, but i can see imperfections. Not much i can do about it.

Here is a pic of the hood. Silver looks so deep and like glass. the roof is done also. thats why its covered.. And the fender shot is just a pic of how it came out.. Looks REALLY good.

So i will finish the polishing in the next few days then im putting in the rear window and then im going to take it on a mayden test drive on the freeway.

Its coming out good. Id say by the time im done it will be a 7 out of 10.

With all the issues i had with the clear coat. Im Just happy its polishing out so nice.

Its coming along nicely. I picked up a new foam pad for the final polish. Once i get it all cut, i will wash it, and start the final polish.. THEN ASSEMBLY TIME!!!!

Well, after asking around, i found that the blackest black is the HOK black.

I got some parts back from powdercoating. I powdercoated the mirrors, door handles, locks,m headlight rings.

I have to replace one of the door handles becuase it had to much pitting.

here is a pic of the grill installed. Fun fun.

The hood is just cut, it isnt finish polished yet. The door pic is finished polished and it looks like glass. Wavy glass, but glass. lol...

Well, 1 step forward 2 steps back. I installed the grill like you see in the pictures and i was going to do a really light wetsand and polish. Well, went right through the clear. So i said screw it. This is the 3rd time i will be painting this grill so im going to take it off and send that to the powdercoater.

So, basically all i have left is send a few more parts to powdercoat, wait for my last big order. Install all that stuff and i should be driving the truck.

I wetsanded/polished my fender that i damaged. That just needs to go on.. I installed the rear window. The rear window looks like crap. I should of replaced it, has scratches and stuff on it.

But im close. Im going to post up a to do list, then just start checkign it off.. Sept. is the first car show i want to go to, so im very very close.

Update. Started wiring the front signals. the headlights i wired already. GMC lights. All four lights on when driving, and all 4 brights on when brights switch on.

Issue i ran into was my signals not working. It would work for a minute then STOP. I couldnt figure it out. I finally tracked it down to the right front grill light not having a good ground. Finished the lights. Now, polish the fenders and hood and then install the side markers and the fronts done.

I got all my parts back from powdercoater. EVERYTHING is black on this. The grill looks GREAT> Front bumper and bolts came out well. Wiper arms.

So just assembling everything. Adding up all the pictures. About 11 more days for the show. Seems like i dont have enough time.. Just nervous. ahaha.

Wed or thurs im going to tow it to work and get it on a lift so i can go over everything again and fix a brake line, tighten down the bed and im good to.

Im just rambling. Sorry guys.

you are not rambling even though i dont like black trucks very much they only look good murdered out like you have done here. everything black it looks so good you have done a GREAT job good motivation of what i could do to my 72 longbed

I wasnt a big fan either, but when i got on the theme of all black. I figured i would go all the way... Only color on the truck is the chrome rims and the gas cap. lol.

Well, few things accomplished. Im towing the truck into my shop today. That way i can work on it easier, more room. Plus alot less distractions like tv and horsepower tv on saturday. lol. Im hoping to have 95% of my list done by saturday and driving it home sat. or sunday for the first time.

I also got my personalized plates also. Happy about that... PTCHBLK.

I will have a huge update with pics coming soon. lots and lots... Cant wait to get this thing going.... im figuring 40 different pics or so on the way...

Well, here we go. About 60 pics or so. Outside is 95% done. I will get to that.

So i updated my front lights. That was fun. Rivet gun didnt work so i manually riveted them in with a punch and a hammer, came out good.





I finished up the wiring also. So all that works now. Moving on. I towed the truck to my shop to get some of the final work done that was easier to do on a lift.

Finishing the outside. I painted/installed my door and forgot about the mirrors i had to drill the holes. I got that all straightened out..

If i forgot to mention, i painted this in my garage. Never painted black. I think it came out amazing. With my wetsanding and polishing skills it came out great. There are some areas, but nothing to bad. Looks good



I installed my powdercoated front grill. Black black.

Here is the options on lights. They are going to sit flush, but i dont really know what looks best. I think on the far outter is the best. What do you guys think?

After the maiden voyage two smaller issues. One is my temp guage isnt working. It registers but it just slowly goes ALL the way to hot. Its not over heating so i dont know whats up. I have a feeling that the sender is sending the wrong ohm or something and the guage is not reading right. any thoughts?? Also, has a fairly rough idle from the big cam, and it sometimes wants to stall, i think i need to up the idle a bit. Thats about it. First show is this weekend.
