Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
I remember a saying a guy told me once when I worked on his bike..........."if you a do a good job ill probably tell a few people, do a bad job and im telling EVERYBODY". Ive had some bad experience with a powdercoater up here too. Its funny how they try and pass the **** on to you just hoping you'll take it and walk out the door. Ill do that then check it outside. Go back in and its " oh whats the problem? I didnt even notice anything wrong with it". Glad to hear you found a new place.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Yep when I used to be in Retail sales the rule generally was. If you piss somebody off they will tell at least 7 people. You do a customer good and he will be back and tell at least 3 others.
So the piss off to impress ratio isn't even, but hey thats the way it works. ![]() |

Looks like I found me a blaster ![]() super nice people, and excellent work.... And your friend is right...plastic is the only way to go. it leaves a fine etch in the metal. I do need to clean up some seam sealer, tar stuff under the dash, and some weatherstrip adhesive, but other than those it should just be a wipe it down and primer......

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
I can not think of one thing I would rather see in the "bare" more than a freshly media blasted 4-5-6 Chevy cab...okay maybe one thing, but what a sight to behold. Congrats on the milestone and thanks for sharing the pix.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Is that flash rust or primer left? Make sure you treat the metal before you prime it or you will have problems several years down the road.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
and some more...
I'm so fascinated how the plastic leaves the metal, it makes the metal sparkle in the sun ![]()

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Brown dust could be oxidized metal. Dupont has a bare metal conditioner, wipe it on, wash it off with water, dry the metal and immediately epoxy prime. Etch prime only lets the primer adhere, does not keep the metal from rusting.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build
Awesome!! Glad you got it back-now let the fun commence!
Those reenactment pictures are downright scary. That would definitely have been a "pucker up" kind of moment.
