So my daily (2006 Mazda3) was in a small accident that was still a total to the insurance company. Thankfully nobody was hurt except in the pocketbook.

Happy to report that my truck made a faithful replacement vehicle for the last few weeks while I was shopping for something new. Kinda cool that my friends waved and yelled when they saw me driving around town. A couple days ago I picked up this 2013 Honda Civic, and the pickup can go back to the easy life.

I put the lumber rack on for a canoe trip this last weekend (that I got for free from the green '70 C20 I had).

Notice the blue-green GMC in the background of the third pic!

Have you given any thought to having a shop put their color detection tool on that paint and then shooting that bedside with some acrylic enamel?
It would be super cheap and bring her back to one solid color.

Yes, I have been thinking about that seriously. But since I just had to replace my car, the funds are just not available.

Took the truck for a cruise down the canyon to take some holiday photos with my girlfriend today. It was nice to get away from town and all the crazy Christmas shoppers.

Lately my power steering pulley has been wobbling loose and making a terrible noise, so I ordered a new pulley. I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole pump.

Hmmm... I think you'll find out the pump needs to be replaced. It's not often a pulley will go bad and wobble without some sort of blunt force, but more likely the bearings inside the pump went bad and are causing the shaft to wobble.

So the new pulley fixed the power steering pump. No wobble or noise at all.



In other news, I installed a Thompson Performance Powerblast Plate in my truck. What an amazing improvement in throttle response! I would recommend this to anyone that has an Edelbrock Performer carburetor. This is the best $40 performance upgrade ever.

Jimbo, what is a Thompson Powerblast? Never heard of it, and I also have an Edelbrock Performer on a 350.

It's a relatively new aftermarket part from Thompson Performance (http://www.thompsonperformance.com/). It goes over the accelerator jets (see brass part in photo above) and helps to spray the fuel instead of just dumping liquid gasoline in.

It works.
I guarantee it costs more than 10¢ to make.
R&D is not free.
$40 is cheap for the difference in performance.

I don't get all the hate on this site from folks that have no experience with this product.
