Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

I thought I would post something a little diffrent this is the death of a 72. I bought it for parts and took it down to the last usable part I thought but any way here are the pix.

What what it looked like when I bought it.

After I stripped it:

At the scrapper a (little Blood & Guts) got $200 for it:

FrankieD, It's hard to watch an old truck get crushed like that, but we all know that we can't keep them all even though we really want to, it just isn't possible.

Me too for $200 for sure. Prolly could have got that back out of one of the bedsides if they were as good as they looked.

Took every part possible off and am sharing with others in need. The grill is in Mississippi and the hub caps and mirrors went to St Louis area some are spread around the Chicago area and still plenty to more to share. I kept a lot for my 70; it was cheaper to buy the 72 donor than to buy new parts. I just got the 350 from the machine shop yesterday so it will live on while the 307 sits in a corner. The 72 spent its life on the roads in northern Illinois and was too rotten to save except maybe the frame.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

All i could think when I saw the death pics was one of those long trailing off noooooooooooooooooos.. lol She was rough and im glad she organ donored to other trucks, but it is sad to see these trucks go to scrap. Im always glad to see a guy furiously working to save a cab even when people are telling him its cheaper to go find another and scrap his.

Thanks! They are made by American Racing, i bought them through a company called TireRack. Great to deal with, i purchased them on a Friday, and got them on the following Tuesday, very fast!
& ya the grille is a 69/70 grille but i think it looks better than the 71/72 IMO..

American racing sells the 2-peice TTII and also the 1-peice TT2.1. Virtually the same wheel, but the 2.1 is, well as mentioned, 1 peice, so there's no custom offsets.

Re: How about some pics of 67-72 Trucks

Just got my new rims and tires put on today. They are 265/75/16 Michelin LTX MS wheels on 16x8 Ion Alloys 171 series wheels. The whole set cost more than the truck did.

[QUOTE=CC69Rat;4687109]VDOG - any more pics of your truck at 3/4 drop? I am about to drop my 68 and I can't decide on 4 or 5 in the back. Thanks.

Sorry im just getting back to you. Yes its a 3/4 drop, I have heavy duty coils in the back since I still use it for clean up till we finish our house. Then im going to a 4 1/2 in the front and a 5" drop in the back. My spindles are stock height right now. 15x8's in the front and 15x10 1/2 in the back. Hope this helps.

Well, in my opinion, that's one of the beauties of the 67-72 Chevy Truck genre. There's enough of the same style to keep us all interested. And enough different to keep all of our interest.

I like your grill. I like 67- 68-69-70 front ends, in general.

But I built a '72 a few years back, The picture of it, and in particular the front end, had me coming back for more.

This time, I had the choice to run a 68 front clip, but I'm going with the '71 (grill's hanging on the wall right now). Pretty much the reverse of what most folks do, given the option.

But, that's the way I want it.

You must be single or have a young wife to have a grill hanging on the wall
