I've had enough negative experience with anything Maytag built in the last 20 years, that I won't consider them anymore. When the Maytag washing machine we got with this house seized the main shaft for the second time in 3 years due to a crappy design with crappy seals and bearings, it went to the crusher. Most of the mainstream appliances have only a 1 year warranty too. I bought a Speed Queen washer with a 7 year parts and labor warranty.
It doesn't have all the problematic bells and whistles, nor can we program it from our phone, which is exactly what we wanted to stay away from. Why the heck does a person need to control a washer from their phone ???

It's just nuts isn't it? A while back I was heading through Lowes and I swear I saw either a washing machine or dryer with a monitor in the door. TV or PC or something. Now who needs anything like that? Gizmos and gadgets are ruining everything.

Cleaned up its steel bushing and the shaft it rides on and smeared on a bit of lithium grease. Also did the same for the four drum rollers while I was in there. Fingers crossed.
That fix didn't last long before it went into 100% screech mode. Got a repair kit with new idler wheel, drum rollers, & belt. Also a new felt seal for where the front of the drum meets the bulkhead.
Runs like a new machine again, quiet & smooth.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Mike, I don't know how your dryer is made but one we had many years ago had an ear shattering screech. I thought it was the drum rollers under the front of the tub. Turned out it was the center spindle at the back of the drum that had gone dry and scored the ball it rotated in. I couldn't fix that one.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

5 years ago I said I was done with pools when the sidewall blew out on the old one. It was 25 years old so it was no great loss. For the last 5 years I have been dealing with the wife buying the crap kiddie pools for her and the grandson that inevitably become a nightmare to keep clean. Found someone local that was getting rid of their relatively new pool and bought it cheap. Bought new liner and had someone come give me a hand to get it installed. 1st time I have ever seen a shop vac used to install the liner. That was pretty slick and quick. now to rebuild the 25 year old deck.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Yesterday we were standing on a (the) corner in Winslow Arizona. When we came in to town ther was that famous burger place. I was pretty excited because I wanted to order mine animal style so I could be like all you cool kids 😁 So I ordered and they said we don’t do that here. Weird but oh well. Burger was good but I didn’t care for the fries. After we got back on the road I was telling my wife it’s strange they didn’t offer animal style and just as I was saying that there was a freeway sign with the different eating establishments coming up. One of them was Sonic …. Good grief I mixed it up, it was a stupid Sonic we were at not In and Out. The guy that took my order must have thought I was an idiot lol!

Picked up a 4x8 all steel work bench for free today . Homeowner had just about got it to the curb when I stopped and ask him about it . He helped me load it up into the truck. Going to get a thick plate for half the bench make it into a welding work bench combo.

Found this “take off” or NOS aluminum lounger at a yard sale for $5. Love these folding webbed old school loungers and chairs.

Wife and I marked a few more waterfalls off our list. The entrance to the cave is blocked but still cool. Saw a large black bear on the drive in.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Near as I can tell, the Maytag Maxima X dryer was made in 2013.

No center spindle -- the drum rides on 2 rollers in front and 2 more at the back. Spring-loader idler pulley near the motor and a long skinny drive belt that goes around the drum.

Yesterday I took the Camaro to a local cars and coffee. Weather was perfect. Mid 60's. About 80-90 cars turned out. It was held at a local tire shop. Free burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks. They did a great job.

Switched out my gas tank and need to get a new rear wall teal carpet. All the ones online say they’re for w/o gas tank? I obviously need one that accommodates a in cab gas tank. I also found a spring hold down under the seat for tools? I saw the spring on the passenger corner for the jack but the jack tools are in the center console of the buddy seats.
