Not surprising. It really is all that. I always insist on it. As a kid my mother insisted on it and her house hasn't been painted in at least 20 years and still looks good. Nothing beats quality.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I got tired of how my socket extensions and pry bars were laying around in different places because of their lengths. So, I made up a couple of racks/holders for them and mounted them on the side of my toolboxes. I used existing holes, so I did not have to drill into my boxes. I think they turned out pretty good and sure makes looking for the right size much easier.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Several days ago a pair of scrub jays built a nest in one of our backyard trees. They hatched three eggs and today the little guys started climbing out of the nest and then end up falling to the ground, too small to fly. I put them back in the nest while under attack by the parent birds. They would soon fall out again so I eventually gave up and will let nature take its course. Two babies are on the ground right now and I suppose they won't last long. Time will tell. Nature can sometimes seem a bit cruel.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Son jackhammered out the footer of an old wall in preparation for putting in a section of ornamental iron fence. The old wall was original to the property so about 50+ years old. Raccoons had been scaling it to get to the neighbor's Cypress trees, and tearing the stucco off. I picked up the debris and paid for the rental and son's lunch. Then I took a short nap. Getting old.

Thanks, yes the 1/4" drive fit the drawers good. But the 3/8" and 1/2" do not. So now they are all in one place and easy to get to. Also, I will know when one is missing.

Excellent idea and result. Certainly worthy of more than one comment. You addressed a thing that annoys me in my tool chest drawers. Extensions like to roll and cause the socket racks to shift, and the mat bunches up. I have a big stuff bottom drawer but my longest pry bar doesn't fit. I used pipe mounting "U"s and made a mount by the door jamb for it's "special place".

Racks like that are available from the big dealers, but I like yours better.
Knowing when 1 is missing won't help the 3 day hunt for it only to have it reappear right where you thought it was 3 days earlier...how the hell does that happen ...

Thank you and yes I looked into buying something that was already made. But most of the ones I found was either very expensive, junk or needed to be modified to fit. Since I had this scrap material, I decided the only real expense was my time which I had plenty of at the moment.

Talking about HF and furniture dollies. A number of years ago when HF had a large sale on their furniture dollies, I went and bought a number of them. They were cheap and I knew at some point I would put them to use. A few months went by I wanted to do some cleaning in my shop and found it was a huge hassle to move my cabinets and work benches away from the walls. They were not on wheels, and it took me most of the day to do the cleaning. So, I remembered I had these dollies and decided to put them to good use. I fabricated them under my cabinets and work benches. So now what took a full day to clean only takes a couple of hours.

Today I walked into my garage and immediately went back in the house. 107 degrees here today.

What can be done today can be done later. Turn up the air conditioning.

I don't care what they say. Dry heat is still really friggin hot.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Hey Paul, I heard you twice the first time (a line I use on drunks). Welcome back to the auto-dupe club. Or is it the dupimatic club? Did you have to wait a long time for your post to send? I know all about this problem except why

I'm restoring some old raised panel doors and hardware in this old house. I'm working in the garage or under my canopy I set up. I have fans. The owner is on vacation and a/c turned off. I went in to remove the jamb side of the hinges so I could start the stripping process. This is second floor. I was fine outside, barely sweating. Up there I immediately started having sweat coming out of every pore. Shouldn't be humid inside with windows closed. It was all I could do to remove one pair of hinge halves, 6 screws. I started getting flustered by the time I got to the second one. I had to get out of there before the heat consumed me. I don't know what the temperature is in their but outside with slight air movement at 90* sure felt better

Yeah. It was really slow but I only hit submit once. I can't figure it out either.

I know that I was teasing you before about the double posts so I guess what goes around comes around.

So when's the first meeting of the duplimatic club? And more importantly who's bringing the beer?

Good to go now.

Yeah Paul, I usually wait to see if it dupes, then delete. Deleting takes long, too. Often after it deletes it brings me back to the first post in the thread. Double weird. and no one can explain it. My laptop has an all new keypad now and it still acts this way. It's only on a few of the long running threads. I thought it hit you before. I know it happens to Dale.

Duplimatic Club, ey? Beer? Better bring double. It's only right that we'd double fist it It wouldn't take long before we became not so diplomatic

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Yep, did it again, and ended up on 1st post after deleting.

But that's not what I came back for. I forgot to posy what I did. I saw a Honda Fit towing a trailer!! Yeah I know, amazing. I figure those cars are designed with minimal capacity for everything. Hauls 4 people max and hopefully not heavyweights. The hitch itself probably takes it over it's limits. The trailer was one of those small tire 4 x 8s. Nothing on it. But the axle was set way back like a boat trailer, which for this thing means more tongue weight. Just an odd sight to see

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

^ I looked up towing capacity for that critter, out of curiosity.

"The Fit has a braked towing capacity of 2,200 lbs and an unbraked towing capacity of 992 lbs, both from ratings outside the United States. However, Honda does not advise using the Fit for towing in the United States, and doing so will void the warranty on your car."

Dunno what's different between the US and the rest of the world, as far as Honda is concerned. I see hitches that are used for putting a bike rack on the econoboxes. That's all I'd do. But then, I have a truck. Many people aren't that lucky.
