Will an Eaton or Auburn posi unit swap in place in the same diff housing (12 bolt). Here are a few pic's. Too much power and tire combo.Haha.

So anyone in the know on the swap.
You found the weak spot!
It is my understanding that an Eaton will go in place of the gov-loc, I have not done it but I was told by a very good mechanic that it would. He also told me that the Eaton is the best to go in a 12 bolt

Tru Trac, Auburn, and Eaton all make a unit that fits this rear, just depends on the gear ratio you want to run as there is a carrier break. While it does "bolt it" it will require a whole new set up. Reset the pinion, ring gear, and the back lash. You can use the old bearing off your carrier as "set up" bearings, just slightly ream out the ID of the bearing to save on pressing on and off new bearings as you work out the carrier shims.

Good luck!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Between yesterday and today I've built my 20" drop hitch to pull my mastercraft, made my tailgate hinges, razor bladed all the outside of the glass, cleaned all the inside of the glass, and gave er a new set of spark plugs.. Next is to give it a good bath and take it on a 60 mile round trip to tailgate at a concert! Crossing my fingers for the trip

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just got back from the C/10 Ranch where Kevin of KevsClassics installed one his very high quality tilts columns. I loved the whole ride home. Thank you Kevin!! Now for that steering wheel change....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Once there was a door and now it is no more! Sorry for the bad cell phone pic's. I have new respect for people that cut down long beds and make short beds. The side of the bed was more jacked up then I remembered. It took some time to get to this point but this poor truck has been on the back burner for a long time and with my Sub getting the seats done I had to play with something.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

New front rotors, pads, bearings, 2.5" CCP drop spindles and 1" drop springs. Not bad for a day and the first time doing any of it. Wheels and tires on the way.
