Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

NICE stepside! You know how much yours is dropped & what components were used?? How much of a C-section in the rear? Im trying to keep my 15x8 front wheels but use spindles & coils to lower mine, hate to get rid of my 80's daisy mags. Thanks!

COPO, What does the Spectre Performance kit do for it?

Got 200 miles on it before it was time to head to Cleveland for the start of the tour. Thank god she registered us or it may still be sitting waiting to be finished!
As for the specs, front has 3" spindles and 2" springs with a coil cut, rear is 3" de-arched leaf springs and a flip kit and custom C-notch (copied from a bell tech). The rear wheels are 20x10 with 295/40-ZR20 tires and the fronts are 20x8 with 255/35-ZR20. Paint is HOK Tangelo Pearl.

FLowmaster's head of marketing Dave Fetherston doing a photo shoot of it for a book he made. I won it as a prize from Flowmaster on the Power Tour.

Rolling into Memphis Motorsports Park. Spectre Performance hooked me up with one of their dual inlet air cleaner kits that are fed through the factory holes in the core support, hence the Spectre sticker on the windshield. They let me park in their booth for the rest of the tour as well.

Wiping her down after an overnight rain in Cleveland. Possibly my fave part of the truck...the tailgate.

The Spectre kit

I have some more pics in my hub-garage if anyone wants to check it out. If you'd like to see something specific, let me know, chances are I have a pic of it!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Smoke Dog - All the Spectre kit does is breathe cooler air from outside as opposed to hot, under-hood air. I'm sure there is a power gain due to the cooler air, but I can't feel it in the seat of my pants. The motor isn't anything special, and I don't run it hard. They offered to give it to me and install it, so I said 'sure'. On my truck, it's pretty much just eye candy. The rearend is the stock one that came in it and has never been opened up. I'm pretty sure it's a 2.73 gear. It did well on the tour, it felt the best at about 80mph but I typically ran between 70-75mph. It knocked down between 14-15mpg (carb was fat-still is actually).

primrrd - The truck is an '84. When I shaved the side marker lights from the fender and removed the front markers from behind the grill, I decided to run an '81-'82 front bumper so I would still have some marker lights. Plus, I thought the markers down low and out wide would look good when cruising at dusk with just the 'cool lights' on! For the life of me I can't remember the backspacing on the wheels, I even pulled my receipt for the wheels, but it doesn't state the backspacing. I will pull one of each and measure what they are and report back.

luifer76 - Thanks for the compliment man! VERY much appreciated.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

bigsj - thanks for the compliment! I dig the front bumper too. I didn't want to lose ALL my marker lights so I went with the 81-82 bumper and I think it looks good. Thanks again.

jojoman - I doubt you will be able to find those tail lights still on the shelf or in a catalog somewhere as they are illegal. I got them from the guy that did the paint and body work on my truck. He had them in his suburban and got scared he was gonna get a ticket so he sold them to me. If you mean the clear marker lights in the front bumper, they came from LMC Truck.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

My two old girls.. 87 4x4 and 86 red/white... The 87 is an all original truck save for the normal wear items. Original paint and interior as a true survivor that hasn't been changed from the factory. The 86 is a nice driver with a repaint..

Working on the 86 to fix some small items but she turns some heads when I take her out.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Hello everybody. i am new to the site and never been on a forum before but i would like to show off my baby. I started this frame off project in October of last year. It has 3" spindles and a flip kit for now. We shaved the mirrors and drip rails. I am currently building a 400 small block for it.
