Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Plumbing is going to be really close to the cowl...we may have to tweak the lines up to clear.
We're probably going to end up in the 700-750 range, but I'm hoping for a bit more. I want to keep it pump gas friendly and I bet we run out of octane before boost. 200 shot on top of that...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
A couple of the frame reinforcing tubes were just touching the bottom of the body, so we made a bit of room for them.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
I just found this thread/ build. I haven't read thru the entire thread yet. But I see it has gone through a major transformation from the first page. I am in the process of purchasing a nice original Burb myself. I must ask. what are your plans for a few of the original trim items that you removed from her. I need a pair of original outside door mirrors, and a nice set of the custom hubcaps. I will be setting down to go through your build thread this weekend. Just thought I'd ask. That's a fantastic find, and absolutely admire it's original color. Congrats

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We brought the motor home today!
Now we can start moving forward with all the little things that need attention...first step was pulling the body back off the chassis and dropping the motor into place.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We elected to go with an electric water pump...which introduced some fitment challenges with the alternator and PS pump.
I made some brackets to drop the alternator down low on the pass side...made sense with the flare on the frame! Still working on the PS pump...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
The switch to the larger carbs dictated that we increase fuel flow from tank to engine, so pulled out the 3/8" hard line and ran a 10 AN feed with 8 AN return...also dropped a large fuel filter inline.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Driveshaft got rebuilt with stronger non-greasable joints, re-balanced, and a fresh coat of paint!

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We completely scraped/cleaned the underside (that was a PITA) and brushed on a heavy coat of black implement paint.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Bet that was a neck & shoulder workout, but it looks good! Started to try something similar on my Tahoe & quickly decided that’s not happening without a lift, lol.

Smoothed the firewall a bit and then primered and painted it...the original Balboa blue.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Hey PE, thanks for following along AND commenting...I really appreciate that!
The non-greasable joints are solid which makes them stronger than ones that are drilled and tapped for zerts/greasing.
