Saw this pic of what appears to be splicing of an old barn or building trusses from yesteryear. Now that's what you call a Cut-N-Stack.

Re: Random pictures that you did not take.

That's different from how I see beams joined in barns in this area. They look similar but at each end have some sort of a back cut to prevent spreading. This example is from a covered bridge

I wish I had know there was a better way when I spliced my windmill legs. I asked a contractor and he said a diagnal cut with construction glue and bolts for the joint.

Re: Random pictures that you did not take.

Timber framing is quickly becoming a lost art. I guess lots of cabin builders and Amish barn builders are still hanging on to the old ways. I find it fascinating.

German Shepard vs. donut. Donut lost. Dumb dog dove into the car when I opened the door and landed right on it. Still tasted good.

Re: Random pictures that you did not take.

I'll never forget driving with the guy I was working with, Jimmy Carter aka Snake, into Philly to see "The Harder They Come" back in '76. Yes, when Jimmy Carter was president. We drive by a Dunkin Donuts and he says, "Ah, Stinkin' Dognuts" . That's how he was, constantly spouting thoughts from his wacked out perspective

Re: Random pictures that you did not take.

Well my brother and his wife left this morning for their slow drive back to Florida. They're going to take several weeks through the southern states. He sent me this. They are staying at a campground there. I would not have stopped till I hit Arizona!
