My 2 cents...

Mark...
my problem isnt the front being too high, its the rear being too low. right now the rear bumpstops are touching the axle. I plan to cut them but I want at least 2-3 inches of suspension travel without notching the frame. And once I put that roll n lock bed cover on its only going to get worse cause it weighs a good 60 lbs at least.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Well here I am again with more bad news. Got the springs on. trying to go for a test drive and of course the truck wont run. Makes perfect sense...was running absolutely fantastic a month and a half ago when I parked it to change springs, now it starts...acts like its running on about two cylinders, then dies! I keep saying this thing is cursed and I mean it!! Theres absolutely no reason for this crap! Running great then the next time i get in it its does this! Yes I'm ranting because this is ridiculous! Anyway, I took a short video to show what its doing. I've got fuel pressure, no blown fuses, beyond that Im lost right now. If anyone has any other suggestions I'm all ears!!

not throwing codes. wont run long enough to get one I guess. I needed to change over to my nitrous plugs anyway so I just pulled all the plugs and they were all gas soaked except #2 which was dry as a bone but fouled out so Im just gonna assume that only one out of 7 coils were firing. I dont have room to get it in the garage and its getting dark and cold outside but Im gonna try to do some diagnostic work tomorrow. If I turn the key forward, I should have power to all the coils correct? I mean without trying to start it? The pcm just grounds each coil to fire it but they have constant hot with key on right?

With the key in the run position, you should have power at each coil.

yea I was going to pull the engine covers off tonight and check it but had to work late and it was raining when I got home. I just hope thats the problem. Its the only thing I can think of other than stuck injectors and a really dont think Id have 7 stuck injectors after only sitting for about 40 days. Of course with this new crap fuel who the heck knows!

This platform needs lots of good grounds. I have 2 extra on mine. In your humid climate you might have some corrosion started already. Chalk it up to "been there, done that"!

Ground the engine to the chassis in more than one place.

oh yea thats covered.Ive got a ground from engine to frame, engine to cab, two frame to cab, engine harness to engine and to passenger fender, passenger fender to battery, and engine to battery/frame. I think I should be good. I thought you meant like additional grounds for my engine harness.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

ok all the grounds seem fine. Ive got 12 volts at both coil harnesses with the key on. Im running out of ideas. Again, this truck was running great when I parked it. Only sat for about 40 days while i was working on suspension and holidays. Dont know if it matters but the battery went dead so I had to charge it back up. It started once but seemed to be missing badly and would take gas then died. Tryed to start again and it chugs like its running on 1 or 2 cylinders for a couple seconds then dies.Cahnged plugs(they only have about 500 miles if that on them) 7 Plugs were soaked with gas, 1 plug fouled. Any more ideas?

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Try pulling the wires off and checking the resistance of each one.
I know sounds kinda silly but I had 3 wires that were bad and not "conducting" and no juice going through the plug wires.
Worth a shot and doesn't cost a dime

Mark...

I had thought about this as well but these are Taylor spiral pro heavy duty wires with less than 500 miles on them and until I pulled the plugs just now they've never been removed. I was going to check for spark at each coil at the advice of Aknovaman today but its been pee pouring rain. Maybe tomorrow. Im starting to think maybe Ive got some corrosion in one of my pcm plugs but I dont know. This just isnt making sense because it was running great and nothing on the engine has been touched since I parked it so it shouldnt be a "failed part". I mean everything is new with only 400-500 miles on it and was functioning properly when parked.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap

Got my roll-n-lock bedcover installed today. Its made for the 90s sportside trucks so I had to modify the brackets a little but after that it fits and operates perfectly. Only downside is that it adds about 75lbs to the rear of the truck but Im really liking the look.

Funny you said that because my buddy that makes decals is wanting to design a decal around my you tube channel "Bad Luck Garage" and put it on there and cut it to roll up with the cover.

Cover looks good. Stepsides can use the extra weight over the rear tires.

Did you ever figure out what was causing to run bad?

Thank you! and I still need to raise the rear a bit. I think Im going to take a leaf or two out of my old sring pack and add them to the current spring pack to raise the rear and stiffen it a bit at the same time. Im thinking the reason the flip kit lowered it way more than it was suppossed to is maybe because of the additional weight on the rear of the frame from the rear mount fuel tank. I didnt think about all that weight when I put it the flip kit on. What was suppossed to be 5" of drop has turned into about 7+ and will get even worse when I put the aluminum sheet in for the bed floor. As far as needing the weight, I think Im more than good since relocating the tank. I mean, itll destroy street tires but the 325/50-15 drag radials dead hooked....even with no fenders, no bed floor, and no topper on! Of course Im sure that will change once I get my stall converter.

Yes, we figured out what was wrong and its a bit embarressing that I didnt figure it out sooner. Apparently I have a ton of water in my tank!! I put new plugs in and checked that coils were firing and they were so I pulled one of the plugs out again and just like before it was soaking wet. I held it up and told my buddy "look! its dripping with fuel!" He took it and smelled it and was like Dude thats not gas!!! Sure enough, my injectors were pumping straight water!! Pulled the pump, dropped a sypohon hand pump in the bottom of the tank and pumped out almost a gallon of water before fuel started coming out!!! Were trying to figure out how so much water got in my tank and trying to get as much out as possible since I have over 3/4 of a tank before we put it all back together.

Wow..That's a lot of water. Sounds sketchy to me. Sabotage?

I have a roll n lock cover on my 2016 chevy and I like it a lot.

Good luck with it.

Im rolling over how the water got there. Making sure my custom fuel filler doesnt leak in the rain. I also thought maybe condisation sence the weather has been going from 8 degrees to 70 and back over and over here but yea, thats alot of water! Im really digging the roll'n'lock. I dont really like the box at the front but the rest looks good I think. I needed something for better aerodynamics and also to keep my nitrous bottle secure and out of the weather. Im actually thinking about a small but functional aluminum ducktail at the back as well. At triple digit speeds I noticed the rear end kinda floats a bit but Maybe the bed cover will help with that.
