Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Thanks for the info, man. i REALLY like how you followed all the little turns and curves so carefully. I think thats what makes it professional.
I've seen one of those hydraulic flaring kits for about... $275, I want to say(?) While I'm annoying you with questions, can you tell us if the frame is painted or powder coated? If painted, did you do it yourself and what prep and paint? Is that hydraulic tee on your rearend somehow bolted to it? Is that available from a catalog or something? |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Worked on repolishing some finned corvette valve covers to go with the corvette theme I will put on my engine. I found a cool air cleaner that was corvette inspired.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Agree. Is the heat shield painted (with what?) or is it powder coated!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
My son was over and we checked out the MII front crossmember, figured out the ride height and bolted one of the forged caliper brackets (11inch rotor) on to see what it looked like. A nice afternoon.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Bought it a replacement engine.
Truck has a 250 Chev 6 and Toyota 5 speed and goes okay, but not so good for towing a racecar around. As I drag race a street legal blown BBC T bucket, getting home can be an issue if we break stuff. So will upgrade the truck to a 350 and then the hills wont be a challenge for us anymore. Have to use the 48 truck now as I sold off the old diesel suburban when the engine died. Being down here in NZ, prices and availability arent what they are in the USA. |

cut a temp bed floor out of plywood. Pulled running boards out of the corner and pulled the hardware out so I can find the replacements.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
After a couple of MONTHS (Doh!) of not having touched it, I finished painting the lower dash today. This is just rattle can stuff so it'll be tolerable while I do the mechanical stuff I want to get done. Rustoleum Sage Green is the darker color. Krylon Celery Green is the lighter color. Apologies for the crappy cell phone pictures.
I'm trying to get it running again and needed to put the instrument cluster back in so I can drive it tomorrow night to a family gathering. I may not make it, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Oh, and I did a quicky "Refurbish" on the spare. The tire is kinda checked and definitely old. Sprayed Sage Green and Clear on it. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
USMC-Butler, Nicely done. I did mine too and used a medium green but I gotta ask, how'd you do the dots in the gauges with white faces? My gauges are black with white dots.

THANK YOU ! This is how I did it, I pulled the 2 gauge pieces out of the housing (temp and amps in one, oil and gas in the other) taped and painted them almond white then used a fine tip black paint marker and dotted the factory dots back in the same place, very simple to do, you could see the factory spots where they go if you looked closely. For the needles I just used a fine brush with the same orange paint as the overlay and put a couple coats on them. I do not have steady hands and this was a breeze. Hope this helps |
