Right on. Very cool that she helps while your gone. Thanks for your service also. I grew up a military brat, mostly here at Ft. Bragg when Dad was in 3rd group, but we were in Germany w/10 SFG and Okinawa w/ 1/1SFG prior to being here. I know 1st hand how much Dad was gone being Special Forces for 24 years. Seemed like they kept those guys on deployment in the 80's-90's. So again, I thank you for your service.

If you ever need helping locating parts, send me a PM and I'll try to help out. I can only imagine how frustrating it'd be to look at this sight from 1,000's of miles away and not be able to work on my own project. Im sure theres plenty of others who'd be willing to help too. Keep us posted on the progress and pics when you get home.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I think the darker blue, like the dark red on the OEM seat would blend better with the darker hounds tooth upholstery, and if its marine grade, like the OEM covers, all the better. It would also better contrast and compliment any white paint you chose for the interior. I do like those sharp visors though.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Just trying to find the right color blue for the upholstery. Will be in vinyl, will be the deluxe 63 design and use the OEM cloth....just trying to find the right blue. Down to two choices. The 1st is a corvette bright blue 69-73ish...2nd is a marine grade vinyl which is the one I'm leaning towards.

I have added to pics of painted parts, the rim is in sun, and the steering wheel pic was taken indoors.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

A cloth sample of the seat pattern. Its about 95% correct for the 63 deluxe seat. The OEM seat has some blue in it from a clean untouched section of the back of the seat cover. The sample they sent does not have the blue, but everything else looks right.

I'll be sticking to stock design, just blue vinyl instead of fawn or red. Heres a pic of aerotruk63's deluxe seat for reference.

UpdateThe blue seems to be paint rub from the frame. The cloth sample was spot on.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks TJ. I need to get out and pull those covers so I can get some pics for you too. Problem is its dark here at 5:30 when I get home. And no lights out in the shed yet. I'll try and get those pics tonight or tomorrow for you.

The blue vinyl is very affordable....was less than $40 shipped to the house. Heavy vinyl and upholstery shop says it'll work nicely. The cloth is $99 a yard, so if 1 yard will work great...if not, I can double that cost. I found a 64 donar bench to drop off so I don't have down time w/the 63 since its my DD.

I meet w/the upholstery shop tomorrow, and SMS is on standby to ship material, so won't be long now. Just hope he isn't delayed due to the holidays.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

OK, here are some pics of the seat cover I've been loaned from WhippenSaw. The cover cannot be torn apart, but the upholstery shop says that's no issue. I meet him at 12, so won't be long until I know cost of labor involved.

As usual, I document before and after pics so here are some of the 63 deluxe seat cover. Only writing or markings I can find are "19" wrote in pencil on the back of the driver side upper cover.

Thanks WhippinSaw......couldn't have done this one without your help.

Next few just show detail of the material and a sample match of the cloth. Sample matches great. And the pic with the factory numbering.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Ok, just back from the upholstery shop. I'll supply all material and $300 and pick up the seat a week after being dropped off. He had me order 1 1/2 yards cloth from SMS, so that's been done. My donar bench seat will be here Friday by my great friend the BlueBomber up in Cary NC that spotted a 64 gmc in a yard and pulled it for $40 for me. The blue vinyl is enroute also, the shop will provide the white for the center strip. Once all parts are here it'll go to the shop and we'll have pics in probably 2 weeks. The anticipation is starting to build.

Your welcome 1963 C-10, I know you are a 63 truck addict and this as well as all your other post adds value to the group. Score on matching the hounds tooth upholstery. Is there a number code from sms fabrics for the upholstery for future reference? I tried to browse their website but no samples there.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Ahhh....yes....the SMS fabric link as requested: http://www.smsautofabrics.com/ajaxre...5B%5D=L&rpp=12

Part # 63-3442 They do not list any trucks under 63, but it can be found under the Corvair Greenbriar for the deluxe seats. As close as I can tell its the identical material. I can't find any difference in the pattern. $95 a yard and they will sell half yards. They also have a green/turquise color of the same material. I got lucky and got "Cyber Monday" at 10% off and flat rate shipping at $15. Plus Aerotruk63 wanted some material, so we did a combined order and saved on shipping.

Part # 63-3441 if you want the green turquise

The shop is working on a pretty cool 1948 Mercedes 170 V also...Not a truck or even a chevy, but was pretty cool to look at.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Not much done yesterday....constructive wise at least. Did get to the upholstery shop and ordered a new heater core since mine is now dumping fluid on my floorboard.

Pulled out the donar seat tracks and started the sanding on them. They are stainless steel and will polish up real nice. I think they'll look good under the new seat. Will get some pics up tonight.

Yes Thanks 1963 C-10, That is the striker I need. Just got my heater core back from the radiator shop too, need to clean up the box before reassembly. Never knew the seat rails were stainless until I started brushing and sanding them. Definitely a must. They did scratch the paint on the upper seat mounting bar. but all the reupholstery shop would do anyway is scuff it and rattle can it.

So are all the seat rails stainless or just some?

Ok, great. Ill get the striker of to you in the next day or too. I can ship it flat rate cheap. Seat cover will be a few weeks behind, but that way I don't hold you up. The seat tracks look great. Did some sanding last night and it doesn't look like it'll take much to get them shining. Yours came out great.

Thanks Newfisher for the compliments. Its not the big work I need done, but right now that's weather permitting until the barn is up and I can get the front end off. But the other projects keep me busy and still makes headway on the overall project.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

i believe all 60-66 seat tracks are the same for c-10 through c-40 models. at least every pair ive ever seen or owned. i have 3 sets right now that are from 61, 63 & 64 that are all stainless and look identicle.

try sanding a small spot on the bottom of the handle to clean metal and put a little polish on it. betting yours are the same. if not, let me know and i can mail a set up. you'll have to do your own polishing though....
