Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Cut out four new replacement panels for my headliner in the burb.
Then spent a day and a half trying to make them fit right...
Still not done, since the heat of the day wiped me out and I was making to many mistakes. So I cleaned up, and planned to pick up where I left off real soon.

New floor mat, seat cover and front marker lights. My passenger door mirror is on order and should be here in a few days.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Yippee! Drove mine to work today!!!!

I put it up on my lift and had a little personal time with it! Checked everything over and fixed a few things along the way and found some more things I am going to have to get took care of too! Always right!?

I gave my upper radiator hose a little long life expectancy by making a rub guard for it! It was rubbing on my altenator bracket.

I tightened my fan belt that was squeelin when you got on it. It is better but I am thinking a new belt is in order!

I greased the entire front end and man it needed it!

Aired up the tires they were all sitting on 20psi!

Lubricated the shifter and clutch linkage while I was under there.

Inspected the whole underneath of the truck. Looking really great under there. VERY VERY SOLID! I am very happy with everything.

Also realized I am going to need to replace the spark plug wires. My small block is missing because the wires a crap and grounding out on the exhaust manifold. Not surpised..Just another thing I need to do!

Hey Chris, I have the same rub on my upper and lower. Got any pics of how you did it. I have been trying to think of a low vis way to make a rub gaurd.

Anyone else have any cool ideas?

Here ya go.. I just went outside and took some pics! Now it is raining! THANKS! hahahha All I did was use some 3/4" Heater hose. Slit it down one side. Rolled it over and ziptied it to the upper hose at the bracket. Works good so far.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just about got my stereo ready for the final install. Made pods to mount my 5.25" speakers to my kickpanels Friday and bondoed them. Sanded and primered then painted them yesterday. Then made some tweeter mounts out of stainless and mounted them to the bottom of the dash. Kinda looks like a gauge mount but it works. Also made mounts for the crossovers to hide them under the dash. Ran some of the wiring, just gotta get some screws to mount the 5.25"s and the amp then I can start wiring. Can't wait to start rockin out

So close to the end of this phase that I can't wait, I've been thrashing every night for who knows how many weeks. I'm sore and worn out but it's all worth it, I hope lol. Love this thread btw.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Changed the tranny fluid and cleaned it up a tad.

Changed the rearend oil and cleaned/painted the diff cover while it was apart. (So far it looks like I fisxed the leaking rearend)

Took a nice cruise with the family to the beach.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Stripped the old intake off and got the edelbrock performer EPS installed and then ran into a snag with the HEI not fitting.

Just got to sort out if I can fit a stock HEI or whether I need to convert the twin point mallory to electronic with an external coil and then finish cleaning up and painting all the odd little brackets etc and refit them. I've even got a cool little direct mount moon temp guage to go in one hole on the manifold. The Mickey T valve covers are getting soda blasted as we speak and then I can either polish or paint them.

Looks good. Even with the v8 in the rear position (with good motor mounts), the HEI will fit. You should take the cap off to install anyway and it will give you more clearance. If it's intake manifold interference you're worried about I won't be any help with the EPS. Performer works fine.

Even with the cap off its hitting the firewall enough to push the top forward and stop me dropping it in I think its engine mount bodgery. I've decided to go with a Pertronix conversion kit for the Mallory as its nearly new and a flamethrower coil, should be here tomorrow. Coil is a black one so it should dissaper on the firewall a little and it'll be relocated a bit more out of sight and rewired anyway.

I had that problem on a car once. Turned out they had the wrong transmission mount and crossmember in there and the engine was tilted down in the back too far. It was just enough you couldn't even get the distributor out of the engine without jacking up the tail end of the trans.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

temporarily mounted a new radio in the spot for the heater controls (it will be stealth mounted later) replaced the door speakers with marine speakers (so that water won't kill them) and continued working on painting the door panels.
I am thinking about putting a pinstripe design on the bottom of the door once I get it looking ok. Maybe something in yellow (Navy blue paint right now)

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

My dad found my Bowtie wingnut yesterday so that was my big install last night. Between a headache, sore jaw from a visit to the dentist and the 98* temp, I stayed inside. Hopefully I can get my carpet all prepped for install and get all of my stereo components installed for good tonight.
