Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well spent the whole day up in Sac today with my coworker his date and my cousin had a good time, some road rage, some laughs, some questionable stuff but overall a great day. Had alot of lookers going by my truck from the times I was overlooking the guests so I'm happy bout that..

Got to check out this sweet unibody truck sure it's popular around the site definitely a TON of mods on this bad boy so she surely deserves the attention given.

Also found a new wishlist item in some Oracle halo headlights to replace my dimly lit current ones. these lights right here will be this bright no matter in the dark or the day light have seen them in person quite a few times. Heard newer Jeep lights work nice since they are true 7" glass lamps.

Grabbed one more shot of the truck in the darker part of the day with the lights to glimmer on the paint

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Ill be up there all day again so hit me up and ill try to be by the truck when you come through phone # in my signature now.

The big attraction over in the towers section is the Batt Kruiser that BRE and Arc Audio teamed up to make it has a jet turbine off the back of it and it is one loud sucker to listen to they fire it up every hour on the hour so reminders are voiced over intercom during the day.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Trucks home safe didn't leave the darn show until 7:40pm last night because we had to wait for my booth to empty and for 6:00pm to shut down the event. Got home round 10:00pm smooth sailing she started right in up every time and ran down the road like a champ after sitting up there the whole weekend.

Will definitely be changing the lower Rad hose this weekend along with some new engine oil running Delo for those that are wondering. Unsure if I wanna do tranny as well since she holds up fine.

Time to relax and wait for the next show and build up money here and there not sure what's next exactly other than button up my loose ends around the truck.

It was great nearing Dale (Ol Blue K20) and his wife along with Josh ( JD BBC 402 ) who also stopped through and dropped off a factory assembly manual digital copy so big thanks to them both for being as great as the rest of this brotherhood is on here. Can't wait to meet more people now

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Thank you I really appreciate every little bit on this truck whether criticism or praise I can handle both and try not to let it get under my skin that's the quickest way a build can go south in my own opinion when others start making you think negatively but thankfully I've had a lot of praise on this Ol hunk of junk

Paint is always nice but I kinda like patina too, in my opinion paint on yours should be after you do everything else you want.

Thats how I feel. While I'm getting the truck done the way I want I don't have to worry about dings, dents or scratches. That all changes once you lay some color on it.

I'm thinking of doing a quick white rattle can job like I did on the tailgate. If I don't like it just rub a little for some more patina

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well brothers sitting here rackin my brain over what direction I want to go next my motor is on its last knee cap basically and I just don't trust it anymore so it's definitely not staying in so now here's where the confusing part comes along..

Do I stay where I'm at and rebuild a spare 350 block my father owns to a 350 horse motor and slap my goodies on it because I love the look of the true blue classic motors?

Do I upgrade to the later model 1996-2001 Vortec motors still use most of my goodies and just have it rebuilt and programmed to whatever is best of both worlds HP and mileage?

Or do I go all out and buy a brand new LS motor do it up to look old school and get the appropriate tranny and never worry about it again aside from the headache of installing all the computer harness?

Money aside I don't care I'd obviously have to do a loan for the newer motors but that would build my credit and I could pay it off with ease.

I also have involved way too much time and money between my father and I in this truck to ever say that I want to start over and try and build one cheaper so I certainly won't be wanton to get rid of it at this point so I suppose money is no issue when it's the dream truck you've always wanted to build.

If I stay with the first two options ill be mating a 700r4 behind the motor so gas mileage afterwards would be tremendous compared to my th350.

Ill be wanting to drive this truck daily for a long time because its honestly a better ride than newer trucks to me so shell need to be solid for a long time guess I'm just picky on looks at this point and the headache of newer motors guess it would be a learning curve if nothing else.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

You ask some good questions my friend. If possible I would do the LS motor for the reliabilty. Having said that I personally like the look of the classic motor under the hood, thats why I stayed with a 350, parts are next to nothing and a set of basic hand tools is all you'll EVER need.
