Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

BWAHAHAHAHA I win!!!!!

I already have the large one and the mini I borrowed from the oldest boy.

Question though. When you put the sleeve attachment on your mini, how did you keep it from chewing up the top of the ball? This one kept getting hung up and ripping pieces off while I was holding the sleeve.

And I still couldn't make them look as good as they did originally. Got any technique tips for us beginners?

I dont have the mini I have the regular size one.....The only thing I do I cover everywhere I dont want the paste to go, then I begin to put the polishing compound on the actual ball and go at low speed one area at a time then I remove the excess with a microfiber towel then repeat as necessary. There is no special trick that I can think of.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

Well, putting the polish on the ball would be a new step for me.

I've been rubbing it around with an applicator first and then trying to "polish" it with the ball. Not working very good. Do you use mothers polish or is there something better that doesnt' cost me my 1 acre of land on the moon?

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

I will when I get to it. One more question though. How much polish do you use if you apply it to the ball first. I was told back in the day to use as little polish as possible and that's what I've been trying to do. Should I be throwing more product at the wheel?

I have a couple of befor and afters from last week but they're not impressive. I'll take some more when I try your method.

These are cell phone pics but I'll use the camera next time so you get a better idea. I couldn't do a close up with the cell phone.

Dirty

Cleaned with Eagle One Etching cleaner.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild

well Al is at it again, i am rethinking wheels again. I do have the set of two van rallies and two truck rallies but still need to buy tires. One of my guys bought a 68 a couple weeks ago and is totally driving me nuts about buying my coys, he wants them period. Of course I was not really thinking wheels at all as I am perfectly happy with mine but he does have my attention as i may have to go a different route this time....

http://www.rushforthwheels.com/view/Rated-X

I am also thinking Budnik.

http://www.budnik.com/whatsnew.asp

I am also thinking Intro Wheels

http://www.introwheels.com/3d_1.shtml

Doesany of you have some suggestions for the confused big guy?

I think you need some one of a kind custom wheels made for the truck. Some Foose designed or something along those lines. Good luck

To be honest I am not sure as I was not planning on wheels as I was done with wheels it is just something that came up yesterday. I could sell my wheels for what I have in the exactly. That is the only reason why I might.
