I have two bad lifters, three pushrods that are barely turning, one pushrod spinning like it should, weak valve springs, a bad cam with flat spots!, slamming valves, to much fuel, and the dang thing still does 4500 rpm!!!! HAHAHAHA! Good ol chevy! Like I always say, A broke ol chevy is better than a brand new Ford! AHAHAHAHA! Anyway enough with that crap, Hope you are able to get your rig on the road, let me know if there's something I can help out with. T.J.

Kool truck man! Just spent some time reading over this build. I dig it man. I also added your truck to the "low buck build thread" in the general discussion realm. Lots of '60-'66 trucks there. Just thought your truck fit that mold. Thanks for sharing.

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

would a suburban body fit on a truck frame, wheel base wise and would there be a difference by year 60-63/64-66?

the w/base is the same on a suburban as is on a short w/base p/up, but there are a few differences. the only similarity on body mounting in their respective years is the front cab mount- every other mounting spot and brackets are different. the frames are basically the same except the suburban has an extension to the rear. in the 60-62 era, you have the x frame in the 2 wheel and a ladder frame in the 4 x 4(there is a different ext for the 4 x 4 so that the frame goes out to 42" at the rear), there is different mounting widths between the early and later models. in the later models the frame width is the same between 2 and 4 wheel drive. there is also a difference between frame depth between a 2 and 4 wheel drive.
the question is why would you want to change the frame unlee you are trying to get away from an x frame. if you are going from an x frame to a later frame it would be advisable to find a later suburban or panel frame so that you have the proper frame extensions as the early ones will not work on the later frames. I may have a set of the later extensions kicking around if I didn't turf them in the scrap

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

Ron thank you for all the info, what i am pondering is getting rid of my body drop it leaves me with 0 leg room. My options are 1. get a new cab 2. build an extended cab witch i would want to extent the frame to keep the long bed. 3. shorten the frame to 115 inch and put sub body on my frame. and 4 witch would be the most costly but most fun, reverses the body drop on the truck while building in a full roll cage and turn the truck in to a mild pre runner. honestly tho the sub body onto my frame has me most interested.

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

Thanks buddy i was sad at first but the more i thought about it the more it made me realize it just meant i could put some time into the 4x4. I lost the water pump on the way home from work i took it as far as i had before waited for lifter noise before i shut her off and coasted down a off ramp was just trying to get as close to home as i could.

but after the new water pump was put back in and she started to warmed up she clouded out the whole neighborhood. its leaking into cylinder number 3 but only leaks if its warmed up once its off it holds pressure in the cooling system. so im thinking that its most likely the block or head by the way its only leaking if warm makes since to me at least that it would be a hair line crack. ether way the hours and especially the money could have the 4x4 on the road with the same amount of work in different areas.

Last night i started on the brake lines i will get some pics up im pretty proud of myself its turning out great for my first try!
