Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

It seems the new Mallory Igniiton in my truck went out. I put a Stock dist in and it runs great. I guess I will just have to change out the module in the Mallory.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Spent some time working on getting the exhaust kit installed. Learned how to use my new welder to weld some tubes. Hopefully finish tomorrow. I hate exhaust.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Spent Saturday wrestling with getting my upper and ,Lower control arm shafts re-installed, very, very frustrated as I wanted to have the front suspension completed this w/e, did a little research on the forum and found some great info posted by sharps.... It all makes sense now, great write ups by sharps. This forum is an amazing resource, fantastic source of information, and most importantly, a great community to be a part of. I will post some pictures and description of my experience with assembling the upper and lower control arm shafts in my build thread once completed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I went to Missouri and hooked a 83 chev it bought Saturday to the 66 GMC . used my tow pilot tow bar. Made the pull back home without incident. The 83 is a fairly clean rust free truck. 250 six and three on the tree. It hasn't been running for quite some time. Its a bare bones truck doesn't have air conditioning. The square cabs are not my favorite models. however this example hasn't been used and abused and was a too good a deal for me to pass up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

There is a complete dodge rear end in the bed. Hard to say if its anything desirable. The son is a MoPar freak has a 69 roadrunner . and he had a big stash if 440 & 383 engines & torqueflight transmission. I not knoweledgeable to know how to determineif the rearend is anything special. There also is a 8 hole 3/4 ton tire & rim in the bed. The inside of the bed is nice not all beatup and dented like most. The tailgate is good also.

Tore apart the tilt column and tightened it up. Found all the parts for the horn and got it to work. Removed all the OEM parts for the cruse control that were under the dash.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Hit a big local swap meet, then shot the paint on the interior roof panel.

Closeup of the "hammered" or "hammertone" finish. It's not distracting or attention grabbing, but it's still just a little different.

Thanks. As far as the swap meet goes, as is typical in this area, the only 60-66 parts are either repops (which we already have plenty of) or rusty (which we also already have plenty of). All I bought today was a cool old oil can.

Hey that's nice! I like the hammertone color and look. Is it rattlecan or spray gun? Any more info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks! That's two coats of Rustoleum Hammered Silver, thinned 15% with Xylene with a little acrylic enamel hardener added. Shot through a typical siphon-feed gun over one solid coat of Rustoleum primer (which was thinned 10% with Mineral Spirits plus a little hardener, IIRC).

We set the cab back upright last night. Time to work on the roof, back wall, interior floor, interior firewall, dash...

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I finally drove the blue truck farther then around the block. The Big Block pulls real nice for a stock burb engine.
