Dont take it the wrong way, it's just my history. When other guys could afford a nice paint job I was driving patina. Now I would rather have the nice paint job.

Well I respect your opinion and history, but that my friend is yours to own. I can afford a fancy paint job, I can also afford to have this truck rebuilt by any shop, the fact that I choose to do it all on my own is because I want to do it my way. My choices, if I dont like it, I can re-do it or live with it. I happen to like the patina look, the day I get tired of it, ill simply sand it and repaint it. But appreciate ypur feedback.

There must be something wrong with people that like that patina? We get the same thing with my dads truck. Its always what color are you going to paint it? Your truck looks great.

i am backwards, I have had lots of beautifully and expensively painted trucks. I have to make garage space for them and make sure everyone who walks by them is careful of swinging bags and keys and leashes. when I go to the store I have to be "that guy" who parks way out away from the store front doors and there are always the people who ironically park around me as kind of a "oh this guy thinks he is something special, we will show him". And thats if I drive it at all, it was always a dance reading and re reading the weather potentials.

so about 15 years ago I stopped worrying about what it looked like on the outside and spend my energy and time on making trucks modern and fun. if it got caught out in a rain there wouldnt be any frantic washing and wiping and waxing, it could stay on the corner of my gravel driveway for months even in the winter and blazing summer when before I would be worried about all the potential damage to the paint. If i need to pick up mulch or a bed it still functioned as a truck. comfy and quiet inside, suitable for front door parking outside. who cares about door dings or character marks from carts.

I agree with you, I want to enjoy the truck.. if I ever finish it.. lol
But again to each its own, I dont knock anyone for their choices on how to fix their ride.
Honestly, I kinda wish I would have gone with a solid color as this patina look is not cheap. Think about it, I bought three different base coats, and a flat clear. If you know anything about paint.. do the math...

Worked on the doors, finished the weatherstip and installed the Trique Mfg Altman Latch. Went with the bolt on kit...
I had replaced the original latch and striker plate with "new original" I ordered from The Filling Station and I did not like them. The doors didnt close right, they didnt work.. madenin Taiwan crap.. so opted to fork out the funds for the upgrade... have to admit..
I like it, the doors close nice and tight.

i should probably align my doors a lot better before i pass judgment on the stock latches ... but what exactly is that much better about these?

Modern latching mechanism that is more secure. There are a lot of write ups and YouTube on Altman latches, check them out.

I guess nothing wrong with the original style latches. I didnt feel like fussing with the set I purchased. I was hoping they would shut and seal tight, but the quality of the set I got was bad. They opened half the time and just poor quality. So after reading good reviews on the Altman set, I decided to go with them. With minor adjustments the doors closed nice and tight, no slamming or play...
But at the end of the day, its what you like and what fits your needs.. thats what great about these projects... no right or wrong..

Work on the doors continue... decided to go with power locks.... did some research on a very reliable source of info... "YouTube". So ordered a $35.00 power lock kit from Amazon... seemed like a good idea... and seemed it would be easy....
Nothing is ever easy!!!!
Kit comes with four actuators, the main box, two key fobs and plenty of wire... easy instructions... plug and play

First thing first... where to mount the actuator? Limited space, window track in the way. So decided that the best place for it was inside the center brace. Had to get creative to drill the holes, used extensions, and a very long phillips screw driver. Have to admit that I said more curse words than usual as I had to hold the actuator with my left hand and carefully get the scews in with my right...

Used 3/16 rod to make the connection from the actuator to the locking lever. Bent it one step at a time to make sure I would go around the window channel, the window mechanism... my arms hurt from going in and out so many times... but finally figured out.

And after several hours, IT WORKED!!!

Tested it with a battery power pack... have to admit, I wasnt sure if I would pull it off.

Guys/gals... need help identifying a part. Im close to oedering the glass. But I noticed that on the doors, the window screws on to a piece that Im missing. Ive looked at all the usual places and cant seem to find it. Not sure what its called so for description purposes im calling it "the roller bar". This piece I assume has to somehow have the plastic rollers sit inside a channel similar to the one fixed to the door panel.
I found and ordered what I thought is that part but, either I am wrong and it just sits on the roller (doubt it) or I ordered the wrong part. The puece Inordered is the lower door window sash channel.
So if anyone could help me identify it and tell me where I could source a set, id really appreciate it.
Ive attached the below pics to hopefully help explain what im refering to.

The white plastic rollers is what I beleive sit inside a channel that screws onto the "lower window sash" which is attached to the window frame.

This is the part I ordered, but I am convinced its not what I need. It does have a channel on one side, but its open, doesnt secure to anything, and I dont think this floats on the rollers.
