Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Bought more Rage, SEM touchup paint for the interior that got scratched during install and AC install gauge set arrived. Gearing for a push to get it on the road. Also found that the paint shop guy had been dealing with retired. Good news is the new guy quoted me sealer, bc/cc paint at about 1/2 the price previous guy did two years ago. Either prices have come down or someone was trying to upsell me. Or maybe my comments about looking at TCP and SPI online got the newbie thinking about some price cutting. Also got a lead on a paint booth for rent.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

First time using the truck for a 'long' journey. Only secondary roads.
Done 240km x2 (~ 150 miles x 2) to meet friends for motorcycle riding (only XT or SR500).
Only problem has been on the way back, the radiator cap has collapse. 2l of coolant lost on the road.
Average consumption has been 16L/100km -> 14.7 US mpg

I haven't actually touched my truck for a while but my Street Demon carb that I ordered from Summit yesterday showed up at my door this morning.

Drove down to register my truck for "Back to the Fifties" car show this weekend at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. I was number 11,162. Over 11,000 pre-registered cars and trucks, pre 1964. Should be a great time, hope to see some of you there.

Installed a tachometer. Bracket from LMC, used an existing hole, ran a #10-32 tap thru it, nice little electric tach off of eBay. Wired it up and away ya go!

Must have been an electrical weekend for a few of us.

Wired in a the new tachometer and voltmeter this weekend. It is nice knowing what the motor is turning. Next weekend I will finish up the dash lights and tidy everything up.

lol. no, you are looking at someone else's post. Mine was done using traditional HVLP methods. I think you are looking at 57chevyman's truck...he's an ace with the rattle can...can hardly tell any difference at all.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

After going to the Brothers truck show this am, got all fired up to do something to my '55. I had bought two stock steering wheels a couple years ago and fixed the cracks with epoxy putty and painted them. The one on my truck was OK, but the ones I fixed were real nice. So I decided fit one of them on. Also added a new black wrap to it.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Fit the kick panel speaker grilles to the opening, had to relieve some of the side. Scuffed them and prepped for paint to match the seats. Was going to paint this morning but had to fight the chainsaw. The gas store I have been buying my no-ethonol gas from switched to 10 percent and I did not notice. Saw sat all winter with bad gas and would not start. I had heard all the hype about Seafoam and figured it was worth a try. That stuff rocks. Mixed it the Seafoam 50/50 with a quarter tank gas/oil mix. Put some directly down the carb throat. Primed the heck out of it and gave it a dozen pulls thinking it would get pulled into the carb. Let it set for a few hours, went out and it started on the fourth pull, smoked like crazy for a few seconds and now runs fine. Going to add a little to all the other small engines I have to clean them out.

did a DIY home rear end alignment this evening. The Vette rear has been in there since 2011, no need to rush into anything.

I reached over and kinda smacked it and it came back on. Looked at the cop and said, "bad ground".
Cop said, "I guess you know why I stopped you. Get that fixed better. Have a good evening." Turned around, got back in his car and left.
