Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

Where's the chicken scratch? Hello? This isn't how it works. The attention is supposed to be on seeing and commenting on all the cool interesting creative things Monroe does with various members around the country, not "Hey what's up??", "Is he still alive?", "I wonder where he is now?", "Are we still doing this?".

Seriously, what the heck happened? CG gave up and passed it on to a very eager member who said he would take over. There was more interest shown in this thread once Monroe disappeared than when it was rolling. So, he sends Monroe out to the new "chicken master", he posts a few pictures with comments, then vanishes without a word?? I don't get it.

You must always remember it's just a rubber chicken and life trumps a rubber chicken.
This is why i took my name out of the hat, although i was looking forward to having him. This is my crazy time of year and if i got him during the week i would have had to send him on, so why waste the money, maybe he'll show up again

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

He doesn't need to go on some crazy outing. But some people get a kick out of doing it that way, and its fun to see the pics.

Last time when we sent Bonni round the world lots of people just took a few shots around their homes, which takes no time at all, and sent Bonni on his way. Tons of great pictures posted that way. That's a big part of the reason to see that Monroe only stays a few days in one spot. Hey I work for NASA and I can get Monroe on the Mars probe. He will be at the next board members house in 60 years. Sounds cool, but fizzzzzzle.

Its not a one upsmanship thing. Its just a bunch of grownups goofing around. And if the grownups are lucky enough they can get their kids to play along too.

The board has been changing over the last few years thanks to Facebook, Instagram, and whatever new internet sensation has sprung up. I do miss the comradre that was more predominate awhile back. But what can you do?

I don't think anyone here sees this rubber chicken thing as more important than life. If you can see that, we can see that. I don't think we think it's all that important at all. Certainly nothing is serious here. What this chicken is about is bringing people together here in a fun and entertaining way with comradery and interaction being the fiber holding the thread together. It's do it for the team here and that concept has escaped the minds of quite a few here it seems. It's very simple, get the chicken, take some pictures including your truck, make up some commentary as you post them, and send him on. I was extremely busy the whole time I had Monroe. I was at a swap meet vending. It's a lot of work from beginning to end, except in the evenings. I still managed to make a story out of it. I was too busy to do the exchange till Saturday and was there since Thursday. I just played with time with my text. Larry was already packed up when we took the "custody exchange" picture. I took the picture on the tricycle earlier.

So where is he? I see the first and last guy to have him posting elsewhere on the site yet nothing here. Isn't he the one running this? Wouldn't there be reason to check the thread when you are running it? I just don't get it

Re: Son of Trucks are for Chickens ... Its on!

I agree with Tim, all of us have busy lives and have other things in life to do. But this is just some entertainment in life and to do something in enjoyment for the forum. I have a busy life myself as operations manager and the head of my household. My family even enjoyed playing along with the Monroe thing, my wife actually took the time to pick up the box at the post office and spent two days taking pics with him. So its all in fun and if one doesn't have the time to perform the duties of coordinating don't say you will and then disappear from the whole thread. I would have loved to taken this role but also knew I would not have ample enough time to care for the thread..

Shazam! Monroe showed up today- he was very irritated & in a fowl mood. He said he was tired of being cooped up in a box most of the time & demanded more action! He claims he never received the "calm down" memo. My daughter instantly claimed him & set him up for his first photo. Looking forward to getting to know him over the next couple days
