Re: Show us your projects

Picked up this '59 Apache in November to work on with my dad. There's a lot of work to do. Never had much car experience, but figured I'd do it right. Learning a lot from the board that's not covered in other places.

Re: Show us your projects

It's garage days are long gone. Both height and width wise. Just got to convince the wife to let me buy the building I have been looking at.

Re: Show us your projects

Here is my 51 sub project. It started out being an Air Force vehicle ended up with me, don't know much more. I've managed to slide a S-10 frame with a 4.3 Vortec under it. I should have it on the road by summer.

Nice choice in drivetrain. I'm running a 95 Vette LT1 w/a 4l60E as well.
Looks like a great project.

Good luck

Re: Show us your projects

did you changed out your Opti or gamble on the OEM. Mine is a 1994 with non venting. I am wrestling with the idea of changing to MSD or Delteq conversion.

To be honest, I think that the Opti horror stories are a bit over stated. I have the factory (vented) unit. My motor even sat for 7yrs and I didn't have any problems. Maybe the non-vented are a bigger pain. I say save your money and try it out first. Are you going to hack your harness or buy an aftermarket?

Re: Show us your projects

I was leaning towards one of the aftermarket kits. Whats is your opinion. I agree that the Opti Horor stories are overblown. My father in law has had a 95 in his 47' Chev vert for 6 years and still no problems.

I went with a wiring harness and reflash from Howell Engine Development. Great company to work with. I wanted the harness longer than stock so that I could hide the ECM in the cab. I also wanted no part of hacking the factory harness.

Re: Show us your projects

Ok, saw some cool 40's to 50's trucks being built in here and had to sign up.

I bought a truck from the purplemonkeykustoms guy on ebay and it has turned into a HUGE project redoing his work. Makes me sad, would rather be working on getting it driving then redoing body work and keeping stuff from falling off. Compression fitting on brakes? lol
...but i'll get it taken care of.

On the way home.

Ripped out a really bad sheet metal dash that was hiding aluminum foil and bondo..

Bumper welds...

Front end support brazed together... And insufficient regardless.

Underway.

Re: Show us your projects

Wow I hope somebody gives him some bad reviews. If I couldn't do a better job than that I think I would look for another profession. Glad you were able to pick up such a nice looking truck though and can correct his issues.
