Re: 72 Suburban Build

haha you ran it like mine except not all the way out the back, which i may change it to like that (how yours is now). been thinking about it for a while just not sure yet, or i may run the exhaust under the axle and out the back instead of over the axle and out the back

Re: 72 Suburban Build

As far as the trip goes...it died a painful...painful...death. When i was putting the transmission together I didn't want to put the pan back on without a drain plug. Instead of drilling it and welding a nut on the inside (like I've done 20 times in the past) I decided to buy the pretty chrome one from summit for like $30 or something like that. Biggest mistake I made on anything I've done. That POS will not seal. Fluid just POURS out of the gasket area. After yesterday, I've now had the pan off 5 times trying to get it to seal. I've tried everything I know (rubber, cork, black RTV, sand blasted the surface to get the chrome off, etc) and nothing works. I pulled it off last night and beat it with my sledge hammer to take my frustrations out on it. I have one of the B&M cast aluminum ones coming today. It better seal. So.....since I couldn't get the tranny to stop leaking and was running out of time, I ended up just having it shipped. It was just leaking too much. I'm so pissed at that pan for ruining my drive its not even funny (I made sure it knew it yesterday though...).

Re: 72 Suburban Build

New tranny pan is here. If it still leaks, I'm either going to weld the mf-er on or I'm going to drive it off a cliff. I HATE LEAKS!!!!!!!
