Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

So when I got my door panels I was disappointed that the faux wood inserts didn't match my rosewood steering wheel very well. I had always remembered my brother's 70 having a warmer rosewood or red tone. These had a little yellow cast that was more "special walnut". So I got some 3M dinoc rosewood vinyl and fixed it tonight. The color difference doesn't seem to photograph that well...only one insert has been veneered in pics 2 and 3.

Man it looks great! Where did you get the rosette rivets for the VIN tag?

She is a beauty. The rosewood is a nice touch as well, great attention to detail.

Thanks guys. It was a pretty nice match. I couldn't help but throw on the door panel for this pic today. She's got to go out for exhaust and windshield and we've got to start breaking down the seats.

Very nice, going to look like it rolled off the showroom in 1970. I like the detail on the wood panel insert...correction, I like all the details....

Thanks...though the wood trim door panels are another one of our "period mods". I've never seen any 70 Blazers with them...only on the trucks. But I thought they'd go well with the steering wheel.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

OK....so we are trying to finish so we can put her in a Memorial Day show. So...it's gonna be close, and we're probably going to be thrashing at the end. Biggest thing is getting her out for glass and exhaust with rain in the forecast for next week....

...cleaned up the brackets and hardware and installed the new speaker from S/M Electronics as recommended on the board. The speaker bolt holes are not threaded like the factory speaker so four nuts were required to hold the grate/bracket/speakers together. My brackets have nuts welded on, this seems to be a correct variation of these brackets...and it doesn't seem to stand out as much under the dash....it actually makes for a clean install.

Here's the speaker installed. Tim (TruckSeats) is being awesome and helping me work through some carpet fitment issues....also, I gotta say...that Precision weatherstripping is outstanding and worth every penny.

Couldn't find a County+Weight code correct tag for 1970 (it's like a needle in a haystack)...even though I had a couple tag guys hunting for me. Settled for this one...but'll keep my eyes peeled.

The bucket seats that I thought were awesome (sense a repeating trend here) turned out to be pretty doggone rusty and pitiful...needing a lot a of TLC. Eric at it again with more metal work no one will ever get to see or appreciate...well except for you guys.

Check this site out for specialty license plates. https://www.licenseplates.tv/ I got the one below for correct State/Year/County in KY with my name but you can have any letters/numbers put on it.

I considered them...mainly it was the time frame and I was a little nervous about the colors and fonts. The one I got is from Rod Pearman who is in Georgia and is "the" tag Dr. (www.tagdr.com). It was already restored and he had it to me the day after I bought it. Nobody cares about the county code but me...and the number of people that would know the weight code letter designation is very small...so it works for me for now. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: 70 Blazer Frame Off

She saw the out of doors for the first time since paint. She holds up well in the light I think. We took her over to the glass shop for the windshield install. We were very fortunate that the owner of the towing company, not just a driver, came to pick her up. He was very considerate of our anxiety.
