True enough. I also like watching the the little pebbles moving around on the ground in the pits when the big cars fire off. Unfortunately, what might occur tomorrow morning is a about 7,800 horse power short of what Mr. Force's rig produces.

Hey Mac,
Can we get one of those "Mission Control" countdown clocks? Or maybe just a link off the NASA web page. So everyone can see when to tune in....

Re: The 283 Rebuild Begins

Don’t know what it is guys - stabbed the distributor just like I did with the Chevelle’s crate motor. Just doesn’t want to go. As I’ve stated a couple of times before - I’ve got a single weekly window of two hours on Saturday morning for this stuff, and no matter what we did, or where we moved the HEI - all it did was pop back through the carburator.

We rechecked the harmonic balancer mark with the compression reading on cylinder number one again - and it’s right where it should be (TDC). Because of other employment and family commitments on the weekends - it is what it is and I won’t be able to even look at it again until Saturday.

Personally, I think it’s all the negative karma by some in this forum:

Have you tried rotateing your plugwires clockwise 1 spot and playing with the timing?

No, no I haven't Jason. And that sounds most logical. It's either 1 spot off or 180 off (less likely). If it's 180 off - it could be trying to fire on the exhaust stroke(?) That's all I can think of in that regard, and I've heard that from dozens of guys before, but this thing almost sounds like it wants to go - but I just can't crank the distributor over far enough.

Good input buddy.

(not like that other guy)

(Buddha's pissed)
