Re: My 57 Pro Street

Well I've decided to go in a little different direction with my build.
I was originally going to run a stroked 454 BB.
When I started adding up what it was going to cost to build my bare block and get a O.D trans it got to be a little discouraging.
I started hitting craigslist and found this combo from a guy who happened to live near me.
6.0 LS2 with a 4L70 out of an 2009 SS Trailblazer. It only has 18,000 miles.
These are rated at 395 HP and around 400 Ft Lbs of torque.
Comes with all the accessories, computer and harness for the engine and trans.
The initial outlay hurt but it should save me a lot in the long run and I will finally be able to make some real progress on my build.
Here's a few pics.

Thumbs up Re: My 57 Pro Street

She'll still be a good engine combo for you.
I was in the same boat myself and went with the engine trans combo I have now.

It's going to be fun making it fit. This was the last thing I needed to finish my frame.
I will have to change the pan but they make them for my front clip so that shouldn't be a problem.

Welcome to the LSx club Kim! I think that's the way to go (ask Bam). There's so much you can do with these engine/trans combo.

I've heard nothing but good things about these engines. great power with good economy. Very easy to get 500HP with a cam and valve spring change.

I mourn the death of your Big Block. I would have even considered taking up a collection to keep you on track. Good luck with the build.

It started out to be tough decision but now I'm kinda stoked that I have an engine that I don't have to go through.

I'm sure I can find a Dr. Frankenstein who would love to bring the monster back to life.

I am sure it will not be just another small block with you putting it in, if its like the rest of your build it will be awesome.

Sounds like a good deal on the engine, looking forward to seeing you getting it mounted.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

Kim57,
back to your brakes. Why did you choose a 2005 truck hydro/master brake system for your ride? I have a chance to pick one up for 150.
You also need to remember the trailblazer weights much, much more than a 55-59 truck. All than electronic crap weight alot. HP to Weight ratios.

When i went to the truck salvage yard it was the nicest one they had. They had some Astro vans but they were a lot older with more miles.

None yet. I have to make room in the garage to get the cab and front sheet metal off.
I still need to get some swap plates ordered. Hope to start real soon on it though.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

once you get it running, you will never regret an efi motor
i chose the easy way out with the ramjet motor, but i paid dearly for it

i'm surprised that it has a belt drive cooling fan,
i thought everything had electric fans any more

I was kinda surprised about the fan also. I had to remove as the outer ring was busted. I may just go electric.

Thanks.
I will be updating it soon as I've been amassing parts so I can get the engine and trans in and finish my frame.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

Was able to get a little done on the truck.
I had to get all the steering in so I can start fitting the engine.
Picked up all new parts at NAPA and CPP.
Also had to get new engine mounts and swap plates so the LS will fit into the Chevelle clip. Going with energy suspension just because.
Also picked up a trans cross member from CPP.

Re: My 57 Pro Street

Also got my harness, DBW pedal, MAF sensor and computers from PSI.
Everything looks real nice. I should be able to get the computers inside the cab without much trouble.
