Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
I can't believe how cool this thing is. I love that it is looking like something that GM could've made. I got into the burbs because i saw one I really liked that had been bobbed 10" behind the rear wheels but this is a whole different level of difficulty and style. I'm curious if you went with a one piece drive shaft or have the carrier bearing style still. guessing by the relief in the floor it looks to me to be 1 pc.

Yes I did go with a one-piece driveshaft. It was the same cost as having my stock two-piece cut and rebalanced, but much stronger (good for 600 hp). Let me know if you ever venture up this way and you have an open intive. |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Me too Been pretty busy but I've managed to tackle some little things here and there. I posted some more pics of the inner fender mods in the susp forum you may or may not have seen.
I did some minor stuff like POR-15 the Leaf guard I made for under the cowl and install new door seals. Also made the 3rd door sill plate fit and started working on shortening the lower trim. ...and I did a little rust repair on the 68 clip: Hammer/dolly'd this area to close it up better (common dirt collector): Then welded it up: And ground the welds a little. POR-15 will be applied later: |

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
That patch looks like it fit much better than the one n2billet & I did for a buddy of mine @ work (he's also a board member now ). If I aligned the wheel-opening 'body-lines', it was short @ the grille area; fit it properly @ the grille area & you'd fight the opposite end.
It gave a me fits before n2billet got involved & we decided to align it @ the most visible point (the wheel opening) & try to split & fit @ the opposite end. In the end, you'd have to look for the repair but it was a pain in the a##!

I'm very new to body work...which grinding tools do you use to grind your welds down. They look amazing.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
I grind most of the weld with a grinding wheel on a 4.5" angle grinder, then 4.5" flap disc, the 60 grit DA. I'm no pro, that's just what works for me.

"I'm no pro"... Holy crap, there is some amazing fabrication work in this build. I'm not sure how I missed this thread until now. If I ever decide to build another truck I know where to come for information... Mike's build threads. Awesome job. Keep it up.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
I know I've let this thread get pretty buried lately. Life happens, even to me...
But I stoked the fire today. Finally wrapped those hoops in some rubber. Now I need to get my tubs done so they'll tuck properly! Specs: 22x9 w/5.5" BS (5" BS would be better but they stopped making them) 305/40/22 20x8.5 w/5.25" BS 255/45/20 Pics... Current ride height (pre-tubs): ...and sitting on the stock inners (front not rear) This will be about ride height after tubs and exhaust: Still need to grind the front hubs a little to fit the center caps: |

Hey Frizzle,
If you're gonna go lower are you gonna raise that gas tank and if so, what are your plans? I'd hate that to be one of the lowest things on my suspension. Your truck is turning out amazing. I feel like my regular Blazer body is gonna be boring by comparison. lol
