Re: AD Truck Project
Since I have not bought new rotors yet, I am considering trying to find an explorer 8.8 rearend with disk brakes for a reasonable price.

Re: AD Truck Project
I picked up the 4 15in cutlass wheels from my folks. They have beat up beauty rings and patina. I am gonna go to Parr and get my rotors this week and try to get tire mounted on two of the wheels. I will just use the rearend I have for now.

Re: AD Truck Project
Thanks. I think they will look the part for this iteration of the build. The tires posted are old dry rotted tires. I have two used 235 75r15s I will be putting on two of them. They are not really good enough to drive on, but good enough to hold air and roll for now.

Re: AD Truck Project
I have some bad and some good to update. First the bad.
My dad lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, and passed peacefully. I am sad and relieved at the same time. If it was not for him, I wouldn't be able to work on things and just generally figure things out. He helped me get my old truck and has continued to help up until his passing. He had a 350 at a machine shop that he wanted to put in his 52 styline after it was on the road. We decided to go ahead and keep it and put it in my truck. We could not remember what machine shop he had it at, it was not as his usual, and thought it got sold out from under us. About an hour before he passed, a guy he used to work with told a member of the family what shop it was at, and that the remaining balance had been taken care of, that the family just needed to pick it up. The out pouring of help and kind comments from his friends and past co-workers has been unbelievable. He made quite an impression on people. We will also be working to get his car road worthy. We promised him it would get on the road, and my mom is going to drive it. Over the last few weeks, as things were going on, I knew that I had been slacking on doing anything with my truck, and slowly started getting some parts together to make a push to make it roll. I have great friends that have offered to help me, but I would be wasting their time unless I had all the parts and pieces already in hand. I bought my correct bolt pattern rotors awhile back, ive got two of my cutlass wheels mounted with temporary tires. Today I am spending a bit of time looking for my 4 link to see if I can get it on the way. I missed out a few month back on a forum vendor special but hope I can find one similar. I probably also need a camaro rearend instead of the s10 rearend I have. On the way home yesterday afternoon I spotted a shop with 4-5 wrecked camaros out front. Some had rearends, so I will try to talk to them and see if they would want to sell one. I want to thank everyone that offered their supports, thoughts and prayers. It is appreciated. NOw to get off my butt and get some stuff done, and quit ditching everyone and go get some bbq soon.

Re: AD Truck Project
Sorry to hear about your loss. You were very fortunate to have a dad that shared your interest in old cars and trucks, that will be a big void to fill. Don

Re: AD Truck Project
We had the funeral yesterday. There was over 100 people easy. It was pretty cool to see. Some of my dad's friends brought his car out and we started it at the end of the service.
In happier news, I ordered my tri 4 link today from Scott's hotrods. There are a ton of great deals in the vendors area.

Re: AD Truck Project
Thanks guys.
Scott came by Saturday and gave me some ideas on my front end, which I worked on today. I also went to pullapart and got a tilt column out of a van with overdrive gear indicator.

Re: AD Truck Project
Where would be a good place locally to get the cross shaft bolts for the upper controls arms? Parr has a kit but I do not need everything in it. Oreilly's told me I would have to go to Fastenal.

Re: AD Truck Project
Not sure,? Is this the bolts that mount it to the frame? Aren't those splined press bolts? What about a salvage or pull a part?

Re: AD Truck Project
I may calling them by the wrong name. They are the bolts that mount the upper arm to the spring hat and you do your camber adjustment.
