Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I stay away from those wanabe jeep clowns too! but I like my old willys.my next 4X4 build {after my 52 GMC} is a 72 chevy cummins conversion. I am a big scout fan too especially a well built scout 80.4X4

Ouch! Still won't give up my CJ5 and will keep it all AMC/dana, weaknesses and all. (Won't give up my Chevy's as well. Just ask the wife!) Hope you had a great holiday weekend.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Yeh,I wasn't meaning to come down hard on Jeeps. I like them. It's some people, and what's up with window banners that invite a reaction, anyway? It just screams attitude and I'm always ready to had such a person their hat

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I once owned a 1952 M38 Willy’s, it had been a 24vdc radio jeep
I wished I still had it. Bought it from the Civil Air Patrol in 1981 it was an #10. Sold it to my cousin & he still has it. It was a bad-ass rig with water proof ignition, I used to swim it across rivers never knowing where it would land. |

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I have to say that out of my 3 jeeps I just liked them, not the Jeep thing, there are Chevy guy's with the Holy attitude, which is fine, takes all kinds with all kinds of rides, they can all be fun, stock, built, just nice to have something in out motor sport.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I have an attitude. I like what I like and if you like something else, that's cool
![]() If I could have one of everything I would. I like a lot,but choose GM trucks as my one and only, since I can only have a few.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Pretty much anything can be cool if you have the skills, Jeeps included...but not many things actually turn out cool when looking at all builds, just alright.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I have had over 120 cars and trucks, some were really ugly but not for long, do have to say about 70% were some kind of Chevy/Gm product, they are so easy to make parts fit and also sell easy.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes

Yep,the ole tractor concept...gears over HP. Doesn't hurt 'em being so dang light either. My li'l Samurai was like that. You could stop on a 45 deg+ hill, then just get going again light no big deal (in Lo4)

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Got room for one more? 1985 may not qualify as "vintage" but it's largely the same truck Jeep introduced in 1962 or so...maybe it can be grandfathered in.
As I bought it: ![]() As it sits now: ![]() And, being an AMC product, there are a few GM parts in there. Of course, there are also a few from Ford/Motorcraft, Chrysler, and who knows who else...

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Well Jim your old truck reminds, of a 54 manufacturer 4x4 Chevrolet that ran around the city where my mother in law and father in law stay until the mid 90s. Some of the people, around city informed some amazing experiences, about that old truck.

All the classics I keep finding around here seem to be the type with four legs carrying opium so how about some American muscle!

Just read through this thread. Lots of great pics! I did notice that we seem to be lacking mention and pictures of the Nash Quad. 100 years old last year. Pretty advanced for the time.

![]() Interesting, not a lot changed in 100 years in the suspension department, they got it right the first time.
