Great progress Wade. Nice to see you have a place to work on it again.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Life has gotten in the way again.

Hey Mike,, it's great to here from you! Believe me,, I understand about life getting in the way. Got a question for you,, I was thinking of putting three point (shoulder) seat belts in Tangerine,,, there is already a tapped hole in the B-pillar that seems like the right height. Do you think that hole is a strong enough anchor point for the seat belt? Do you have any suggestions for a three point belt,, it has to be black and retractable? I seen one for second gen camaro's that looks interesting,, but it sells for $179 (ouch!!) Any ideas?

Hi Wade, sorry I haven't been on here in quite a while. Too much work to do at work and not enough time for fun

That is the bolt hole the factory used for the shoulder belts. It is a fine thread shoulder bolt you need for that spot so they are a little hard to come by but they area out there. All the newer stuff used coarse threads.

I found that the second row shoulder belts out of an ~86-91 Suburban are a good match and won't take much work to make fit. The lower housing and mount bracket is level to the floor so there is plenty of material for a clean look and no odd shapes left over. The size is manageable and will fit in the space we have to work with.

Not sure if there were any Suburban seat belts that are black but I have used fabric & vinyl dye on seat belts before and is works well. A little rigid at first but they soften up after some use and the coating stays in place. Krylon Fusion paint for plastic works well on the housings.

Are you heading up here for Good Guys?

Hey Guys,,, it's been a little while!! Progress is still going on,,, lost my camera so no new pics till I find it! We are heading in to winter and the shop is not very well insulated and the stove is pretty small,, so,,, it will probably be about three months before I get back to work her. I got a lot accomplished this year but I've also been very surprised how long a lot of the custom work is taking me. Having never really done this kind of work before,, it's hard to get the things in my brain to be actually created and functioning. Sometimes it's just trial and error over and over. But I'm still optimistic that the end is near.

Okay,, I'm back,, and I found my camera! So I spent a lot of time last year cleaning all the rust off the frame. I don't know why it had so much RUST!! The donor Yukon came from North Idaho,, where they do not salt the roads,, so,, beats me why so much rust. Anyway,, I also welded up a lot of the "tie down" holes in the frame too.

I also got rid of the factory fuel tank and installed a custom made beauty. The factory cross member in front of the tank wasn't going to cut it,, so I cut it out and built a new one.

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

I started to build the frame work for the bed but it looked like the tops of the shock mounts were just a little too tall and might interfere,, so I modified them with strength in mind.

Trying to use a new online photo storage,,, but it doesn't seem to be working. I think the photo's file size is too large. I'm trying to use Flickr,, just don't know how to re-size the photo's with that site.

The ceramic coated long tube headers are from JBA! Super high quality and great fit. They ran just under $700, plus another hundred for JBA high heat spark plug wires and oxygen sensor wire extensions.

Well this is a bummer, I'm looking to do a similar project but not many of these builds have been completed. I like the idea of using the Tahoe/Yukon floor and firewall to keep the HVAC intact. I hope all is well with the OP.
