Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Here are some display pieces from Topps. The colors are crazy but being inside in the shade the pics don't do them justice. The bikes are awesome.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Steve, and others who want to know pricing, these are some quotes they gave me. I painted my frame but I asked just because.
Truck frame $450 Spindles (new). $35 each Control arms (dirty!). $25 per upper. $30 per lower Center link/sway bar (dirty) $25 each Trailing arms ( kinda dirty). $65 each PB rear trac bar kit (new). $40 They charge slightly more for dirty parts where they have caked on oil sludge etc. they blast everything old or new for better adhesion (included in price) If you bring a large batch they will work the budget a little with you. Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Looking good, Dan. I read your previous post about going back to school in case the economy tanks. Good idea! Just take it one step at a time. When I decided to go back to school to finish my undergraduate, I thought it would never end.
I actually got a little bit motivated today. Did some minor prep work, then got distracted by checking something on our everyday vehicle, then went back to work on my carburetor. I will post some details on my page. It's not much, but it's a start. The Topps powder coating looks nice. We went to a home show recently, and I found a local guy that does powder coating for automotive parts. Not sure what, if anything I want powder coated just yet, but I might end up paying him a visit for something. |

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Rides coming along sweet. Wish we had a powder coater in town. When I checked just to get frame blasted. They wanted 400 to 1000. So I couldn't imagine what they want to coat. Anyways like I said SWEET!!!!!

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Powder coating is sweet. When I first started my truck one of my neighbors from across the street came to check it out. Before he left he said, oh by the way you do know I'm a powdercoater don't you? I did not know that, then he told me just bring anything I want to him and he'll take it in to work and throw it in the pile. I never did take him up on it, partially because I was trying purposely not to make my truck too nice, but a great offer none the less.

Here are a few pics of my powdered parts. Hopefully I can get some garage time during spring break and get most of this stuff installed. This is the color I picked "anodized aluminum", looks like late model wheel color. a little different than argent rally wheel but close. I like it! Time for bed...

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Had some axle U bolts made locally at a semi truck parts/repair place. Any locals wanting to know it is Fleetpride 9300 W Reno, Okc. Almost in Yukon. My Iphone lied to me said they were between meridian and macarthur. It is not. Anyway $36 out the door. Bring an old one in for them to duplicate and be done in 5 minutes. made in the USA

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Installed my Energy suspension trailing arm bushings. I do not like the end piece. It is like one long control arm bushing with a collar that goes over the other side. Well the collar does not fit well because it interferes with the existing bushing shell and you have to squeeze the piss out of it to get them into the trailing arm mount. Waaaah!

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Ordered some Seymour Cast Blast paint from summit for the u bolts, cross shafts, and exposed part of the ball joints.
After digging my front coils out and realizing how poor they looked I ordered some 1" front drop coils from brothers. On sale of course for $88 Looks like my final stance will be 3.4/5 drop. I really want it LEVEL with 0 rake but I guess we will see how it sits once assembled. Now if the weather would cooperate I could paint a few little pieces and have a rolling chassis. Also have a 7 hole cluster in my possession and a 97 S10 speedo on the way for a top secret project
