Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Not much progress on the truck. Finished parting out the roadmaster. Made some serious $$ to put towards the 52. So with a few bucks in hand, I ordered a RnD rad. Found a early 70's chevy van steering column that has tilt, shift indicator, column shift with no key. Will pick it up in a few weeks on my way to an out of town hockey game.
Now that I have a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket, I need to get a brake booster and master cylinder setup. Been looking but info is starting to get confusing. I'd like to go firewall mount and something that is nice looking. Would you sharp cookies here mind helping me selecting something that will work for my setup? It would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked into a Hydroboost for your brake system because you have power steering??

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
A bit solid but don't understand it all. I understand low vacuum is better suited for hydroboost but have no idea if I will have low vacuum or not. Not sure what came on the truck the engine came from. Like I said, this is all French to me. I don't mind a firewall setup as long as it's sharp looking and will work with my vette calipers. Vette masters and boosters aren't the best looking imo.
I don't have a brake pedal yet either so should I be salvaging that setup from the roadmaster? See I told you all I'm a little slow.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Sid, in 99's last build he salvaged a brake pedal assembly from another vehicle and used it. It might have been an S10 though I don't remember for sure. I did the same for my 35 Chevy build and it was a lot of hours in fabrication time to make it work. This time I think I will make use of one of the kits...just haven't started researching which one.

You pick up things very fast!
I have the same calipers and rear end on my new project, and Hydro boost is just two more lines, P/s to HB, HB to R&P R&P to P/S pump, circuit complete!

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Thanks AD. I saw 99's build. I look at it all the time. Don't mind fabbing the under the dash stuff. Just want a better looking unit under the hood.
Thanks Solid. Lowers also mentioned about the hydroboost. Does it make the under hood look ok? Why are you going that route?

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
I like the firewall setup to be honest. I like seeing a nice clean set up. I'll be trying a wildwood MC on my current build. as for the pedal, I'v used an s10 pedal and also a Silverado pedal. the Silverado pedal was better bc it was taller, so mounted higher. but unless I have a pedal out sitting there, I'd just buy a wildwood brake pedal.

That said, in my opinion anyway, they're not good to look at, too many extra hoses and pipes. I'd prefer the single vacuum line to the booster. I'm currently working around an 11" S10 dual diaphragm, but there was a 9" dual diaphragm heavy duty unit (In the 92 S10 it's option JM5) which is compact and not bad to look at : http://www.cardone.com/Products/Prod...=501221&p=rock It will work with the later straight bore masters that GM used in four wheel disc S10s (I'm using the one from a 2000 Blazer) As far as the pedal goes, I used an S10 bracket, but it wasn't exactly a bolt in, I had to modify the bracket and extend the pedal about 2.5" to be where I was happy with it.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Sid this is my Hydro booster I'll get a pick tomorrow night with it all together. For brake peddle I used '80's gm van bit of trimming fit really well, then put a support to dash. I'll get some picks of that too. Might help.

Got the picks Sid. Hydro and peddle. Hope it helps with your decision. The last pic is looking through the left gauge hole you can see the placement and reinforcement.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Ready to order the electric fan for the rad. Looking at a Spal 16" Puller Fan. #30102082. Anybody have any other options? Also, do I need to get a relay kit with it? I think my 04 PCM controls the fan. Enlighten me all! Thanks!

Your PCM is capable of controlling the fans, but I don't think in an '04 would have that programmed so you would need to have it added when you do the reflash. The fan is controlled using a ground trigger, so you will need to use a relay - the PCM grounds the coil on the relay to turn it on, and that's what activates the fan. There's a single wire you have to add to the harness coming from the PCM for this function, if the donor truck didn't have E-fan to start with. **EDIT** Check out this link, here: http://www.lt1swap.com/2004vortec_pcm.htm That shows the pin-outs for the 2004 PCM - the wire in question goes to pin 42 in the blue connector C1 (the pin is highlighted in blue as well). I can't remember, were you going to modify the harness yourself, or buy one of the modified ones?

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Thanks JJ. So the relay kit will plug into the stock engine harness? The temp sensor on the engine block goes to this relay kit too? Sorry for the dumb questions!

The relay kits (say you bought the SPAL FRH one, like this one) are set up to run power direct from the battery to the fan. There will be just one wire (the relay coil ground wire) which gets connected to your engine harness, via the pin 42 shown in the PCM pinouts. You're going to have to add a pin to that position on the connector - but lucky you, you have a some extras you can remove from the connector for other functions you don't need, so you can just use one of those and solder to your relay ground lead I may possibly have one of those PCM connectors in my pile of extra parts laying at the house, if I do I can snap a few photos of what I'm talking about.

Once you have a tune that has electric fans, all you have to do is hook the ground wire from the relay to the proper wire into the PCM. When the temperature switch that feeds the PCM sends the right signal, the PCM will ground the fan relay wire and the fans come on. Hope this helps.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Sid, we did basically the same for tune and cooling fans on my 56. The pcm from the harness supplier had a truck tune which didn't work on the dual fans. Reprogrammed with 01 F car.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Take a look at some of the Jeep electric fans, I do not have any part numbers in front of me, but the ones I use are large and work very well here in the heat with A/C
My Howell harness came with a relay and the his computer was "tuned" for a electric fan. It turns on at 205.8* and off at 195.4* the fan hooked up with a + & - wire supplied with a connector
