Hey, no reason to apologize just because you came up a little short (pun intended.) Nice looking truck by the way.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
What are you running size wise for tires. Looks like you are running prob the same drop I just installed. 4.5 front and 6 rear?
I am getting rubbing in the front on top of the tire over any bump or dip as well as the sides when I do a decent turn. I only have a inch or so clearance above my front wheels. |

Here's my '75 K20. Needs a new engine and a lot of body work, but I love it and can't complain since a friend gave it to me.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
75K20, those tires look tight, is that no lift w about a 35' tire and a bit of trimming, must rub a bit if using it off road.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
That's right, no lift and sitting on the original suspension that came with it. The front is sagging an inch or more. You're right on the tire size, 315/75R16 on 16x10 white steel wheels with 4 inch back spacing. It only rubs the inner wheels wells over bumps while the wheels are turned. Not bad for 42 year old sagging springs. I haven't taken it off road at all because I don't know of any places around Pierce County WA. All I had to do was some hammering, the rust took care of the rest of the clearance issues long before I got the truck. It only has 130,000 miles on it.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Well the 75 K20 looks like a great project, will be nothing but better in time. Nice it's a 3/4 ton, more useful for trailer or hauling.
Mudman.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Thanks Mudman. I'm going to be able to supply all of the rust repair pannals, for the cab, and all of the replacement body parts when I get the body work done. I'm going to design my own winch carrier grille guard for the truck. I'm wanting a roll bar from Sterling Manufacturing in Florida. One way or another my son and I are wanting to redo the truck frame up, even if we can't take the body off and have to do it with the body on. I just wish I could find a shop near home that'll let me and my son work on the truck and won't charge a lot of money.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Cowdogpete and ChevyGMC123, those are really nice looking rigs. Cowdogpete, yours reminds me of a '85 to '87 bright red K20 or K30 standard cab with a ladder rack on it. I could be remembering it all wrong. I'd love to get a truck like that. I might do a modified version using my '75 K20 and doing a '85 front clip on it. Not sure yet.

First Post!
Just picked up this '78 Silverado, my first C10. Needs a brake booster and some door sag correction, then just put on the miles. |
