Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
OK, new guy here! I used to be a Nova guy, but sold my beloved last week, after owning it for 17 years. Cried for 2 days and then used some of the cash to by my future dream truck. '63 Longbed. Here it is as of today. Already getting started in it. Will take me a while for this build, but at least it can be driven while worked on. Got a disc brake kit on order as well as some needed seatbelts. Right now it's got a 292, but I'm going this afternoon to look at a bare bones 454 to build out. Already have some paint/wheel/stance ideas, but I'm sure it will change as I start working on it.
and here's what I sold in order to get the truck: |

I love the truck, and I too have a 63 I am working on, but WHY would you sell that beautiful Nova?

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
There probably wasn't enough of it left from the rot to save it. At least it's notb sitting in a junk yard.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Strodder, thanks for the welcome! Yeah, thats exactly why I sold my Nova. To get the new business off the ground. We recently relocated here to Denver. It was tough selling it after dragging it all the way from Ohio only 6 months ago. Even the interior was all done by me, so I had a lot of time and heart invested in it. BUT the new truck makes me way less sad about it. I just in the door from picking up a 454 big block. $150 isn't too shabby for a good starting point. It'll need a lot of work but by next year, we should have quite a few ponies to put under the hood.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Check out my build thread. I'm doing this truck as cheaply as I can. You'll see my shop and what I spent my money on from the Belair.

When you don't work on it, it doesn't cost anything. You can't get much cheaper than that. Just pulling your chain Dennis.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I look at it from a different perspective. To me it’s more like yard art, where somebody turns an old car into a planter or a highway sign because it’s too far gone to restore. I’d rather it was turned into something interesting (arguably) rather than being squashed into oblivion.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I agree 100% Markeb, guys don't take nice trucks like yours and make Mad Max Tow Trucks! They give a little more life to an old derelict. I hold back on the HAMB listening to the zealots tear on Ratty project. Most of these projects don't start as complete vehicles, so my hats off to someone who can mix and match parts into a hot rod form. If their given a little life, maybe they'll return complete one day. that's my rant, maybe I had too much coffee

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I read somewhere that this tow truck was in a very bad accident and the owner really didn't want to part with it. So instead of sending if off to the scrap heap, he salvaged what he had and reaaaaaaaally modified the hell out of it (what you see here now)
Its not something i would outright do to my truck but if it was under the same circumstances, i'd probably do the same thing! (lol) Besides, its got personality and a story, ...both things I like and think go a long way |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Kudos to all of you that find it interesting. If it were me I'd have bought a parts truck and pieced my old baby back together like new again. That or I'd use it for parts on my next build.
For me it just takes alot away from the truck's epic majesty to bastardize it like that. I'd rather part it out to someone else than chop it up. But that's one of the great things about these old trucks. You can take any single one of them and make them what you like, even if what you like is this. They're very malleable that way. |
